How is NTA JNUEE 2019 Result Prepared?
JNUEE 2019 has been conducted on different shifts and different days. Hence, for multi-shift papers, raw marks obtained by the candidates in different shifts/sessions are converted to NTA Score (percentile). The NTA score for JNUEE is prepared by applying the method of Normalization. Finally, the calculated NTA Score for the Raw Marks for all the shifts/sessions is merged for further processing for deciding the allocation.
What is Normalization?
The process of normalization is used when an exam has been conducted across multi-session papers The candidates will be given different sets of questions per session and it is quite possible that in spite of all efforts of maintaining equivalence among various question papers, the difficulty level of these question papers in different sessions may not be exactly the same. Hence, the Normalization procedure based on Percentile Score is used to ensure that the candidates are neither benefitted nor disadvantaged due to the difficulty level of the examination and true merit of the candidate is identified.
How is the NTA Score Calculated?
Step 1 – Calculation of Raw Scores
A candidate’s raw score is calculated as per the prescribed marking scheme, +4 for every correct answer and accordingly negative marking scheme is applicable.
Step 2 – Calculation of Percentile Scores
Candidates need to follow the following formula to calculate the percentile scores.
Percentile score of a candidate = 100 X No. of candidates who appeared in the same session (as you) a raw score equal or less than yours (T1)
Total Number of candidates appeared in that session
This is how NTA calculates NTA Score! Note that, merit lists are not prepared on the basis of this score. Rather, on the basis of the raw scores.
