What is the CG PPHT 2027 exam pattern?
The paper has 150 one-mark questions in three parts, and you answer either Maths or Biology, not both.

What topics come in CG PPHT Physics?
Physics covers mechanics, heat, waves, optics, electricity, magnetism and modern physics. The main units in the official syllabus are:
- Units and dimensions, motion in two dimensions, circular motion, Newton’s laws, friction, work, energy and power, collisions.
- Rigid body rotation, moment of inertia, gravitation, geostationary satellites and escape velocity.
- Elasticity, surface tension, kinetic theory of gases, specific heats, isothermal and adiabatic processes, conduction, convection and radiation.
- Simple harmonic motion, waves, beats, Doppler effect, interference, Young’s double slit, mirrors, lenses, prisms, the eye and optical instruments.
- Photoelectric effect, Bohr model, hydrogen spectrum, radioactivity, mass-energy relation, fission, X-rays and semiconductors (p-n junction).
- Bar magnet and earth’s magnetism, electrostatics, capacitors, current electricity, Kirchhoff’s laws, potentiometer, magnetic effects of current, galvanometers, electromagnetic induction and AC circuits.
What topics come in CG PPHT Chemistry?
Chemistry has three parts in the official list: general and physical, inorganic, and organic chemistry.
- General and physical: atomic structure, chemical bonding, solutions, solid state, nuclear chemistry, chemical and ionic equilibrium, thermodynamics, chemical kinetics, electrochemistry, surface chemistry and catalysis.
- Inorganic: metallurgy (Na, Al, Fe, Cu, Ag, Zn, Pb), periodicity, alkali and alkaline earth metals, nitrogen and oxygen families, halogens, noble gases, transition metals, coordination compounds and qualitative analysis.
- Organic: empirical formulae, nomenclature and isomerism, hydrocarbons, haloalkanes, alcohols and phenols, ethers, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, amines and nitro compounds, polymers and biomolecules.
What topics come in CG PPHT Maths?
Maths is only for candidates who choose the Maths group in the form. Its 11 units are:
- Algebra: complex numbers, progressions, quadratic equations, permutations and combinations, binomial theorem, logarithmic series, determinants and matrices.
- Trigonometry: functions and graphs, identities, equations, properties and solutions of triangles, inverse functions, heights and distances.
- Coordinate geometry in two dimensions (lines, circles, parabola, ellipse, hyperbola) and three dimensions (direction cosines, lines and planes).
- Vector algebra, including scalar, vector and triple products.
- Differential calculus, integral calculus and differential equations.
- Statistics and probability, numerical methods (bisection, Newton-Raphson, trapezoidal and Simpson’s rule) and linear programming.
What topics come in CG PPHT Biology?
Biology is only for candidates who choose the Biology group, and it has a Botany part and a Zoology part.
- Botany: cell structure and division, Mendel’s laws, DNA replication and gene expression, viruses and bacteria, five kingdom classification, life cycles of Spirogyra, Mucor, Funaria, Selaginella and Pinus, plant tissues, mineral nutrition, photosynthesis and respiration, plant hormones, ecosystems, economic botany, plant breeding and biotechnology.
- Zoology: animal tissues, histology of mammalian organs, human organ systems, endocrine glands, vitamins and minerals, reproduction and development, chromosomes and sex determination, blood groups, genetic engineering basics, human population, animal classification, evolution, economic zoology, human diseases, immunity, addiction, wildlife conservation and pesticides.

How should I prepare for the CG PPHT syllabus?
Start with NCERT Class 11 and 12 books, which cover most of the topic list. The official list also has older topics that NCERT has dropped, such as tangent galvanometer, numerical methods, metallurgy of named metals and plant life cycles, so read those from state board books.
