Preparing for JEE Main 2025? One of the important decisions you’ll make while filling out the application form is selecting the language in which you’ll take the exam. In line with the National Education Policy (NEP), JEE Main 2025 offers a wider range of languages to accommodate students from diverse linguistic backgrounds. Here’s a guide to help you understand the available language options and choose the one that’s best for you.

Available Languages for JEE Main 2025

JEE Main 2025 offers 13 language options for candidates across India. Here’s the list of languages and the regions where they are available:

  1. English: Available at all exam centers.
  2. Hindi: Available at all exam centers in India.
  3. Assamese: Available only at exam centers in Assam.
  4. Bengali: Available at exam centers in West Bengal, Tripura, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
  5. Gujarati: Available at exam centers in Gujarat, Daman & Diu, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli.
  6. Kannada: Available only at exam centers in Karnataka.
  7. Malayalam: Available at exam centers in Kerala and Lakshadweep.
  8. Marathi: Available at exam centers in Maharashtra.
  9. Odia: Available at exam centers in Odisha.
  10. Punjabi: Available at exam centers in Punjab, Chandigarh, and Delhi NCR.
  11. Tamil: Available at exam centers in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
  12. Telugu: Available at exam centers in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
  13. Urdu: Available at all exam centers in India.

Note: When choosing a language, be sure that it’s available in your selected exam center city.

Tips for Choosing the Best Exam Language for You

Selecting the right language is an important decision, and it can impact your exam experience. Here are some tips to help you choose:

  1. Choose a Language You’re Comfortable With: Pick a language in which you’re proficient, as it will make understanding questions easier and reduce any potential stress during the exam.
  2. Consider Your Study Materials: Many study resources and coaching materials for JEE Main are commonly available in English and Hindi. If you’ve studied primarily in a regional language, ensure you have adequate preparation material in that language.
  3. Stick to a Language You’re Used To: If you’ve taken previous exams in a specific language, it might be beneficial to stick with it for JEE Main as well. This can help you feel more comfortable and focused on exam day.
  4. English Option for Dual-Language Paper: No matter which regional language you choose, the question paper will also be available in English. This can be helpful if you want to double-check your understanding of any question.

How to Select the Language in Your Application Form

Selecting the exam language is part of the JEE Main 2025 application process. Here’s what to keep in mind:

  • Carefully Select the Language: When filling out the application form, make sure to choose your language option carefully. Once chosen, the language cannot be changed later, so double-check before finalizing.
  • Language Choice Affects All Exam Attempts: If you plan to take both sessions (January and April), remember that your selected language will apply to both attempts. Make sure it’s a language you’re confident using.

Important Notes About the Language Option in JEE Main 2025

  1. Dual-Language Papers: Each question paper will be available in both English and the regional language you select. If any difference or discrepancy arises, the English version will be considered final.
  2. Regional Language Availability is Location-Based: Not all languages are available at every center. Make sure the language you want is available in your chosen exam city.
  3. Non-India Centers: For candidates taking the exam outside India, only English and Hindi are offered.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  1. Choosing a Language You’re Not Comfortable With: Avoid selecting a regional language simply because it’s your mother tongue if you haven’t studied in that language. Choose the language in which you’re most proficient.
  2. Forgetting Location Restrictions: Ensure that the language you choose is available at your chosen exam center. Not all languages are offered at every location, so check availability first.
  3. Changing Languages After Selection: Once you choose a language in your application form, it cannot be changed later. Be sure of your choice before finalizing.

Final Thoughts on Choosing Your JEE Main 2025 Exam Language

Selecting the right language for JEE Main 2025 can make your exam experience smoother and reduce unnecessary stress. Carefully consider your options, and choose the language that will allow you to understand and answer questions most confidently. With the new language flexibility in JEE Main 2025, you have more options to take the exam in the language that best suits you.

Good luck with your preparation and exam!
