HP GNM Admission 2027: Dates, Form, Eligibility, Merit, Fee

HP GNM Admission 2027 is the merit-based admission to the 3-year General Nursing and Midwifery course at government and private nursing schools in Himachal Pradesh for 2027-28. The Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER), Shimla, runs it. There is no entrance test: selection uses 10+2 marks, and forms are expected around June to July 2027.

Is there an entrance exam for HP GNM 2027?

No. DMER Himachal Pradesh fills GNM seats purely on merit in the 10+2 qualifying exam. You send one application form by post, your name is placed in a stream-wise merit list, and you choose a nursing school in person at the counselling.

The process covers the government GNM schools and the state-quota seats in private GNM schools recognised by the Himachal Pradesh Nurses Registration Council (HPNRC). A school takes part only after HPNRC affiliation, so the number of private schools and seats can change up to the day of counselling.

HP GNM 2027 Important Dates

HP GNM 2027 dates are not announced yet. In 2026 the advertisement appeared on 3 July, the last date was extended to 25 July and counselling ran from 22 to 25 September, so the 2027 form is expected around June to July 2027 and counselling around September 2027.

How to Apply for HP GNM Admission 2027

You apply offline: fill the prescribed proforma and send it by post to DMER, Shimla, with the fee receipt and attested certificates. The 2027-28 form will come with the next notice; the steps below follow the 2026-27 notice.

1. Download the notice and the proforma (application form) from the Nursing or Notice Board section of hp.gov.in/hpdmer.
2. Pay the application fee online through SBI Collect: choose Government Departments, then Himachal Pradesh, then the HPNRC tab, and deposit the fee under the application fee head.
3. Fill the proforma in capital letters: personal details, age as on 31 December, domicile, 10+2 marks and stream, category and sub-category, marital status, and your WhatsApp number and email.
4. Paste a recent attested photograph and attach attested copies of your matriculation certificate (date of birth), 10+2 marks, category and sub-category certificates, the character and bonafide certificate from the Tehsildar or Executive Magistrate, and the SBI Collect fee receipt.
5. Post the form to the Director, Medical Education and Research, Block No. 18-B, SDA Complex, Kasumpti, Shimla 171009, before the last date.

The fee is not refundable, and DMER does not accept demand drafts or postal orders. A form without the fee receipt is not considered. Objections or corrections to your form can be sent by email within 3 days after the last date.

Who can apply for HP GNM 2027?

Only bonafide Himachali female candidates who have passed 10+2 can apply. These are the 2026-27 rules:

• 10+2, preferably in science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) with English, with at least 40% aggregate marks from a recognised board.
• 10+2 in Arts or Commerce with English (Core or Elective), or the Health Care Science vocational stream, with 40% marks from CBSE, ICSE, a state board or an equivalent board, is also accepted.
• 10+2 Arts, Science or Health Care Science (vocational) through the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) with 40% marks is accepted.
• SC and ST candidates get 5% relaxation in marks.
• Age: at least 17 years as on 31 December of the admission year (31 December 2026 for 2026-27). There is no upper age limit.
• There is no separate quota for in-service FHW or ANM workers.

How is the HP GNM 2027 merit list prepared?

DMER prepares a category-wise merit list on your total 10+2 marks, and gives preference by stream in this order:

Non-Medical and Arts or Commerce candidates get seats only if eligible Medical stream candidates are not available. If two candidates have the same marks, the one with higher total marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology ranks higher, then higher marks in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and English in that order, and finally the older candidate.

Seats follow a 200-point reservation roster for General, SC, ST, OBC, EWS, IRDP, wards and widows of defence personnel or ex-servicemen, physically handicapped candidates and wards of freedom fighters. Candidates are called to counselling in the ratio of 1:2, two candidates for every seat.

What is the expected HP GNM 2027 cut off?

How does HP GNM 2027 counselling work?

Counselling is held in person in Shimla. In 2026-27 it ran stream-wise at the State Training Institute, Health and Family Welfare, Parimahal, Kasumpti:

1. DMER scrutinises the forms and publishes the combined merit list and a rejected list on hp.gov.in/hpdmer.
2. The counselling schedule is announced through newspapers, radio, TV and the DMER website. No call letter is sent by post.
3. Reach the venue on your stream’s date with all original certificates and self-attested photocopies, and mark your attendance before 11:30 AM.
4. Institution-wise and category-wise seats are displayed on the day. You choose a school in order of merit; government school seats are filled first, then private school seats.
5. Pay Rs 10,000 at the counselling, which is adjusted later in the annual fee.
6. DMER uploads the selection orders under Notice Board / Nursing on hp.gov.in/hpdmer. Seats left vacant go to the waiting list or a later round.

DMER has held a second round for vacant seats in recent sessions; in 2025-26 it was held on 28 October 2025 at IGMC Shimla, and candidates could also upgrade their school there.

Which documents do you need for HP GNM 2027?

You attach attested copies with the form and show the originals at counselling. The list in 2026-27 was:

• Matriculation certificate (proof of date of birth)
• 10+2 certificate and marks
• Character certificate and bonafide (Himachali) certificate issued by the Tehsildar
• SC, ST or OBC certificate, and EWS or IRDP certificate, where claimed
• Dependent certificate for wards or widows of defence personnel or ex-servicemen, signed by the Deputy Director, Sainik Welfare
• Physically handicapped or ward of freedom fighter certificate, where claimed
• SBI Collect fee receipt

Forms are rejected for gaps such as being under age, no fee received, or a missing 10+2 or character certificate, so check every attachment before posting.

What is the HP GNM course fee?

The annual fee for a state quota seat is Rs 39,200, as per the 2026-27 notice, plus a refundable security of Rs 3,000.

Government schools charge no tuition or hospital attachment fee to students from BPL or IRDP families; in private schools such students pay a tuition fee of Rs 5,000 and an admission fee of Rs 2,000. Private schools cannot charge infrastructure or development (IDF) fees. Mess, transport and other charges are extra. There is no stipend, and the state does not promise a job after the course.

Which nursing schools offer GNM in Himachal Pradesh?

In 2026-27, 46 institutions took part: 6 government GNM schools and 40 private schools with state quota seats. The government GNM training schools are at Bilaspur, Chamba, Dr. RPGMC Tanda, Mandi, MGMSC Khaneri (Rampur) and Nahan. The list of private schools and seats is displayed at the counselling venue.
