The MP CPCT syllabus 2026 has two parts. The 75 multiple choice questions test computer hardware and software, basic operations, office and internet skills, reading comprehension, maths and reasoning aptitude and general awareness. The typing part tests English and Hindi typing speed. The same syllabus applies to the November 2026 session and later sessions.

What topics are in the MP CPCT MCQ section?
The official CPCT syllabus groups the MCQ section into six competencies. Each question has four options with one correct answer, and every question is shown in both English and Hindi.

How many questions come from each MP CPCT section?
The syllabus does not fix a count per topic, but the official 5 September 2026 Shift 1 paper shows the split used in a recent session:

What is tested in the MP CPCT typing section?
The typing section has one English and one Hindi test, each a passage typed for 15 minutes. Both are compulsory and are scored separately in net words per minute (NWPM).
- English typing: a 5-minute mock round first, then the 15-minute test.
- Hindi typing: a 10-minute mock round first, then the 15-minute test, in Unicode with the Remington (GAIL) or Inscript keyboard layout.
- Mock rounds are for warming up and are not counted.
- To qualify you need at least 30 NWPM in English and 20 NWPM in Hindi.
- The keyboard model at the centre may vary, depending on what is available.

Candidates with a certified disability of at least 40% who use a scribe get 25 extra minutes in the MCQ and 5 extra minutes in each typing test.
How should you prepare for the MP CPCT syllabus?
- Read the official syllabus PDF once, then spend most of your time on computer and IT topics, which carry about 52 of the 75 marks.
- Practise Word, Excel and PowerPoint tasks on a real computer, including keyboard shortcuts.
- Solve the official question papers with answers from past sessions under a 75-minute timer.
- Type for at least 30 minutes a day in both languages. Aim well above 30 NWPM in English and 20 NWPM in Hindi, since posts may ask for more.
- Decide early whether you will use the Remington (GAIL) or Inscript layout for Hindi and practise only that one.
- Use the free mock test on the CPCT portal to get used to the test screens.
