What is in the WBJEE Mathematics syllabus?
Mathematics (Paper I, 100 marks) has 22 chapter heads covering algebra, trigonometry, coordinate geometry, calculus and vectors.
- Algebra: A.P., G.P. and H.P.; logarithms; complex numbers; polynomial equations; permutations and combinations; mathematical induction; binomial theorem; matrices.
- Sets, relations and mappings; relations and their properties; statistics and probability.
- Trigonometry.
- Coordinate geometry of two dimensions: straight lines, circles and conic sections; coordinate geometry of three dimensions.
- Calculus: limits, continuity and differentiation; Rolle’s theorem and Lagrange’s mean value theorem; integral calculus; differential equations; applications of calculus.
- Vectors.
What is in the WBJEE Physics syllabus?
Physics (50 marks in Paper II) has 24 chapter heads, from measurement and mechanics to modern physics and electronics.
- Physical world, measurements, units and dimensions; motion in one and two dimensions; motion in a plane; laws of motion; work, power and energy.
- Motion of a system of particles and rigid bodies; gravitation; bulk properties of matter; viscosity.
- Heat and thermal physics; thermodynamics; kinetic theory of gases; oscillations and waves.
- Electrostatics; current electricity; magnetic effect of current and magnetism; electromagnetic induction and alternating current; electromagnetic waves.
- Ray optics and wave optics.
- Atomic physics; nuclear physics; solid state electronics; semiconductor diode.
What is in the WBJEE Chemistry syllabus?
Chemistry (50 marks in Paper II) has 37 chapter heads across physical, organic and inorganic chemistry.
- Physical: basic concepts, atomic structure, states of matter (solids and gases), chemical thermodynamics, equilibrium, solutions, chemical kinetics, redox reactions, electrochemistry.
- Inorganic: periodicity, chemical bonding, s-block, p-block (including Group 13), d- and f-block elements, lanthanoids, actinoids, coordination compounds.
- Organic: basic principles, hydrocarbons, haloalkanes and haloarenes, alcohols, phenols and ethers, aldehydes, ketones and carboxylic acids, nitrogen compounds (nitro compounds, cyanides, diazonium salts).
- Biomolecules and polymers: carbohydrates, proteins, nucleic acids, polymers.
- Environmental chemistry, and qualitative and quantitative analysis.
What is the WBJEE 2027 exam pattern and marking?
WBJEE has 155 multiple-choice questions for 200 marks in two 2-hour papers. Each subject has three question categories with different marks and negative marking.

How should I prepare for WBJEE 2027?
- Start with the NCERT Class 11 and 12 textbooks for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, since the chapter list follows the Class 11 and 12 level.
- Give Mathematics extra time: it is a full paper worth 100 of the 200 marks.
- Practise Category 3 questions (one or more correct answers) carefully. Marking any wrong option gives zero for the question.
- Skip guesses on 2-mark single-answer questions, which cost 1/2 mark when wrong.
- Solve full papers in two 2-hour sittings with a break, as on the real exam day.
