How to Apply for IMU CET 2027
You apply for IMU CET 2027 online through the admission portal linked on imu.edu.in, once IMU opens registration. In 2026 registration ran from 5 February to 28 April 2026, so the 2027 window is expected from February to April 2027. There is no offline form.
Apply Online for IMU CET 2027
Applications for IMU CET 2027 are expected in February 2027.
- Open the admissions page on imu.edu.in and go to the IMU CET registration link.
- Register with your email ID and mobile number, and pay the registration fee online.
- Choose up to 8 states where you would like to take the exam.
- Fill the form in its five steps: basic details, personal details, academic details, document upload and online payment.
- Upload a recent photograph (taken in the admission year) and your signature as instructed.
- After successful payment, download the filled-in form from your dashboard and keep it for reference.
- About 20 days before the exam, log in again to pick your exam city. Cities are given first come, first served.

The fee is the same for UG (B.Tech, B.Sc, DNS) and PG (M.Tech, MBA) and is not refunded. A submitted form cannot be corrected: if you made a mistake, you must apply again with a new email ID and mobile number. BBA admission does not use IMU CET; it has its own registration and is based on Class 12 marks.
Who can apply for IMU CET 2027?
For the pre-sea UG programmes you need 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics averaging at least 60%, and at least 50% in English in Class 10 or 12. These are the rules from the 2026-27 prospectus; IMU will confirm the 2027 rules in the new prospectus.

- Upper age limit for UG: 25 years (General men), 28 (OBC-NCL), 30 (SC, ST); 27, 30 and 32 years for women. Age is counted on the date the academic session starts (1 August in 2026).
- SC and ST candidates get a 5% relaxation in PCM marks, but not in English marks.
- Class 12 students awaiting results can apply using the Results Awaited option.
- PCM marks are not rounded off. A candidate with 59.9% in PCM is not eligible even with a good CET rank.
- Pre-sea candidates must produce a medical fitness certificate from a DG Shipping approved doctor at admission.
What is the IMU CET 2027 exam pattern?
IMU CET is a computer-based test with multiple choice questions, and 0.25 mark is deducted for every wrong answer. This is the 2026 pattern, which is expected to continue in 2027.

The UG test lasts 3 hours. In 2026 it was held in two shifts on the same day, and each candidate’s shift was printed on the admit card. See topic lists on the IMU CET 2027 syllabus page.
How is the IMU CET rank used for admission?
IMU CET is mandatory for pre-sea courses. Under DG Shipping Training Circular 12 of 2020, every DGS approved maritime training institute must admit B.Sc Nautical Science, B.Tech Marine Engineering and DNS students on the basis of the IMU CET rank.
- IMU campuses: register on IMU’s online counselling portal after the IMU CET result, pay the counselling fee and fill choices.
- IMU affiliated institutes: apply to the institute directly with your IMU CET rank certificate.
- Other DGS approved institutes: approach the institute directly with the rank certificate.
IMU has six campuses: Chennai, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai Port, Navi Mumbai and Visakhapatnam. The counselling fee was Rs 10,000 in 2026, with Rs 9,000 refunded if no seat is allotted.
