YSP University Admission 2021 Eligibility Criteria
For UG Programmmes
- 10+2 or equivalent examination with English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Mathematics from a recognized Board with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in the above subjects.
- Candidates who belong to reserved category such as SC/ ST/ PH, it shall have 5% of relaxation marks in minimum prescribed norms.
- Those candidates who apply for self-financing seats are exempted from the appearing the entrance exam.
- Normal Seat admission available for which the only domicile residents of Himachal Pradesh and Ward of Kashmiri Migrants, Ward of Kashmiri Pandits and Kashmiri Hindu Families (Non-Migrants) are eligible.
- Candidates who appeared in 10+2 examination are also eligible to apply.
- The self-financed seats are open for all at National level.
For PG (M.Sc.) Programmes
- BSc Horticulture/ BSc (Hons.) Horticulture/ BSc Forestry/ BSc (Hons.) Forestry/ BSc Agriculture/ BSc (Hons.) Agriculture/ BSc with an OGPA of 6.00/10 under course credit system or with a minimum of 60% marks from a recognized University or degree from a foreign University with at least ‘B’ grade or its equivalent recognized by the University.
- The prescribed minimum marks shall be relaxed by 5% in the case of SC/ ST/ PH candidates and in-service nominees.
For MBA Programmes
(A) MBA (Agribusiness): BSc Agricultural Sciences with an OGPA of 5.50/10 under course credit system or with a minimum of 55% marks from a recognized University or degree from a foreign University with at least ‘B’ grade or its equivalent recognized by the University. The prescribed minimum marks shall be relaxed by 5% in the case of SC/ ST/ PH candidates and in-service nominees.
(B) MBA: Graduate in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks under the annual system or its equivalent under course credit system from a recognized University or degree from a foreign University with at least ‘B’ grade or its equivalent. The prescribed minimum marks shall be relaxed by 5% in the case of SC/ ST/ PH candidates and in-service nominees.
YSP University Admission 2021 Entrance Test
This year university will not conduct its own entrance examination for any of the following degree programme such as Undergraduate (Normal Seats), M.Sc, MBA and Doctoral Programmes for the academic session 2021-2022.
The entrance test for admission to Undergraduate Programme (UGET-2021)
There will be a composite question paper of 100 marks of two hours duration. The question paper will have four parts viz., 30 questions each in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Mathematics subjects and 10 questions shall of general awareness related to Agriculture.
The entrance test for admission to MSc/ MBA (Agribusiness) Programme(PGET 2021) shall be conducted in the main campus of the University on scheduled date and time.
The question paper carrying 100 multiple choice questions shall have three parts:
- Part-I General Knowledge (20 questions)
- Part-II Rural Awareness (20 questions)
- Part-III Specialization (Optional-60 questions)
Part-I and Part-II shall be compulsory for all and Part-III shall be attempted in accordance with the nomenclature of the qualifying degree.
The entrance test for admission to MBA
All the eligible applicants seeking admission for normal as well as self-financing seats are required to appear in HP-CMAT to be conducted by Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla on the scheduled date and also apply separately for admission to this University.

YSP University Admission 2021 Counselling
For Undergraduate Courses
The University shall notify the result of the entrance test (UGET-2021) showing the marks obtained in respect of each candidate which shall be uploaded on the university website (www.yspuniversity.ac.in) on the scheduled date. The admissions for the available seats, category-wise, shall be made through counseling according to the merit drawn on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance test (UGET-2020) plus weightage for participation in sports/ games/ co-curricular activities, by the counseling committee. No separate letter will be issued for attending the counseling
For Postgraduate Courses
The University shall notify the result of the entrance test showing the percentage of marks obtained in respect of each candidate which shall be uploaded on the university website. No Separate intimation will be sent and as such the candidates are required to attend the counseling as per schedule. The admissions for all available seats category-wise shall be made by the counseling committee according to merit drawn on the basis of
(i) percentage of marks obtained in the entrance test and
(ii) weightage, for participation in sports/ co-curricular activities, if any. The normal seats under H.P. Quota in each discipline have been assigned to the general category, SC category, and ST category in accordance with the 100 point roster and shall be filled accordingly.
In case, the candidate belonging to the SC category/ ST category is not available, the said reserved seat shall be allotted to candidate belonging to the general category of bonafide Himachali under H.P. quota in accordance with his/ her merit. The self-financing seats are open for all at national level.
YSP University Admission Procedure 2021
For UG Programmes
The basis of admission shall be merit drawn on the basis of marks obtained at 10+2 level examination in four subjects, i.e. English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Mathematics plus weightage of participation in sports/ co-curricular activities. The detail about the weightage for participation in sports/ co-curricular activities is available in chapter-II). In case two or more candidates obtain the same percentage of marks, the candidate who is elder in age shall be considered for admission.
For PG Programmes
- The basis of admission to MSc Programmes shall be merit as determined by the result of the entrance test conducted by this University.
- The basis of admission to MBA (Agribusiness) Programme shall be merit of the entrance test conducted by this University followed by Group Discussion and Personal Interview to be conducted by the University.
- The final selection will be based on the candidate’s overall performance in the entrance test conducted by the University, group discussion & personal interview as per weightage given below:-

4. While determining the merit, the following percentage of marks shall be added to the result of those candidates, who have distinguished themselves in sports and games recognized by the Indian Olympic Association/Association of Indian Universities, etc. and for significant participation in NCC/ NSS and co-curricular activities:-
For MBA Programmes
All eligible candidates shall have to appear in the HP-CMAT examination and also apply separately to this University for admission to MBA programme.
(A) Written Test: All the eligible applicants seeking admission for normal as well as self-financing seats are required to appear in HP-CMAT to be conducted by Himachal Pradesh University.
(B) Group Discussion and Personal Interview: Group Discussion and Personal Interview in respect of the shortlisted candidates, including those applying for self-financing seats in the College of Horticulture. Candidates are required to produce original certificates for verification as specified.
The final selection will be based on the candidate’s overall performance in the written test (HP-CMAT), group discussion & personal interview and academic record as per weightage given below:-

YSP University Admission 2021 Selection List
On the basis of the first counseling that will be conducted by the University, the candidates will be selected category-wise/college-wise and as per preference order for admission to undergraduate programs of different colleges of this University.
YSP University Admission 2021 Reservation
For Undergraduate Programme
- Admission shall be open to all eligible candidates subject to the reservation of seats as under:-
a) The seats under ICAR quota shall be filled up by the ICAR through an All India Entrance Examination conducted by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi.
b) The normal seats shall be reserved for the bonafide Himachali candidates and seats self-financing seats shall be open for all at the National level. The normal seats shall be filled up in the following manner
c) Out of normal seats reserved for bonafide Himachali candidates, 50% seats are further reserved for the candidates belonging to the rural area and the remaining 50% seats are open for other bonafide Himachali candidates.
For Postgraduate Programme
- Admission to Postgraduate Programmes shall be open to all eligible candidates subject to the reservation of seats as under given category.
- The seats under ICAR quota shall be filled by the ICAR through an All India Entrance Examination conducted by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi.
- The normal seats shall be reserved for the H.P. Quota. However, if some normal seats remain vacant, the candidates have passed their qualifying examination from the institution/ university situated in the territorial jurisdiction of Himachal Pradesh will be considered on merit basis) and shall be filled up by this University as normal seats in the following manner:-
- 15% of the seats shall be reserved for Scheduled Caste candidates and 7.5% seats for Scheduled Tribe candidates (totaling 22.5% reserved seats), while the remaining seats shall be kept for general category candidates.
- However, the reservation for SC/ ST candidates shall be made in accordance with the 100 point roster system in each college by arranging disciplines alphabetically and filling the assigned reserved seats discipline-wise only.
- In case, the seat assigned to SC/ ST category remains vacant due to the non-availability of candidates, the same shall be filled from the general category of bonafide Himachali under H.P. Quota.
- The self-financing seats shall be open for all at National level and shall be filled up by the University
MBA (Agribusiness)
- Admission to this Programme shall be open to all eligible persons subject to the reservation of seats as under the following category.
- The ICAR quota seats shall be filled up by the ICAR quota through an All India Entrance Examination conducted by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi.
- The seats under H.P. Quota shall be reserved for the bonafide Himachali candidates. However, if some normal seats remain vacant, the candidates have passed their qualifying examination from the institution/ university situated in the territorial jurisdiction of Himachal Pradesh will be considered on a merit basis.
MBA
- Admission against general seats shall be open to all the eligible persons subject to the reservation of seats as under given category.
- 75% of the seats shall be reserved for domiciles of Himachal Pradesh.
- 25% of the total seats are open to all at a national level.
- All the eligible applicants seeking admission to the MBA program for normal as well as self-financing seats are required to appear in HP-CMAT to be conducted by Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla on the scheduled date.

Note:
- In case, two siblings of same parents are admitted to the same or different Academic Programmes of the University, fee concession @ 50% of tuition fee will be given to younger one.
- No fee except food charges shall be paid by the students admitted under the PH category.
- All the securities must be claimed within one year of leaving the University, failing which the same shall stand forfeited.
