The AP EdCET 2026 syllabus tests a candidate’s command over General English, awareness of general knowledge and teaching aptitude, and depth of subject expertise in the chosen methodology. Part A – General English

This section tests basic English language skills at the undergraduate level. Major topics include:

  • Reading Comprehension
  • Correction of Sentences
  • Articles and Prepositions
  • Tenses and Voice
  • Direct and Indirect Speech
  • Vocabulary, Synonyms, and Antonyms
  • Idioms and Phrases

Part B – General Knowledge & Teaching Aptitude

Part B has two sub-sections. General Knowledge (15 marks) covers current affairs, India and its neighbouring countries (History, Culture, Geography, Ecology, Economics, General Polity, Scientific Research), and matters of everyday observation. Teaching Aptitude (10 marks) checks personal characteristics expected of a teacher – communication, ability to deal with children, recognition of individual differences, analytical thinking, and general intelligence.

Part C – Methodology Subject

This is the largest section (100 marks) and is set at graduation level. Candidates choose one of the following based on their qualifying degree subjects:

  • Mathematics – Algebra, Calculus, Differential Equations, Real Analysis, Solid Geometry, Linear Programming, and Numerical Analysis.
  • Physical Sciences – Physics (Mechanics, Optics, Modern Physics, Thermodynamics, Electrodynamics) and Chemistry (Atomic Structure, Chemical Bonding, Organic, Inorganic, and Physical Chemistry).
  • Biological Sciences – Botany (Plant Physiology, Genetics, Ecology, Cytology) and Zoology (Cell Biology, Animal Physiology, Evolution).
  • Social Studies – History, Geography, Civics, and Economics.
  • English – Prose, Poetry, Drama, Phonetics, Grammar, and Linguistics at BA English level.

How to Cover the AP EdCET Syllabus 2026

  1. Download the official syllabus PDF from cets.apsche.ap.gov.in/EDCET and print it for quick reference.
  2. Make a chapter-wise study plan that allocates more time to Part C, since it carries 100 of the 150 marks.
  3. Use your undergraduate textbooks for Part C; NCERT and standard competitive prep books work well for Part A and Part B.
  4. After completing each chapter, attempt topic-wise MCQs and refer back to the corresponding section of the syllabus.
