FDGE 2020 – National Board of Examinations (NBE) has released the admit card for Foreign Dental Graduate Examination (FDGE) Screening Test. The screening test is conducted for the Indian Nationals / OCI having primary dental qualifications awarded by dental institutions outside India. The test will be conducted on December 04, 2020. There are two test papers in FDGE 2020. It is a computer-based test and will be conducted keeping in mind the COVID-19 guidelines for conducting an examination. FDGE 2020 Admit Card
Admit card for FDGE has released online at nbe.edu.in. It must be noted that FDGE is not sent via post / email. After downloading the admit card, the candidates need to paste the latest passport size photograph on it. Along with the printed copy of the admit card, the candidates need to carry a valid id proof:
- PAN card
- Voter id
- Driving License
- Aadhar card (with photograph)
Note: The candidates must note that the request for the change in exam centre or date for FDGE 2020 shall not be entertained. Hence, candidates are not advised to canvass for such representation.
FDGE 2020 Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Criteria: Any Indian citizen or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) or Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) having a primary dental qualification / PG Diploma / Post Graduate Dental qualification awarded by any dental institution outside India who wants to register with any State Dental Council or of any other purpose as specified by the Dental Council of India from time to time, on or after the date of publication of these regulations.
Note: It must be noted that appearance in FDGE 2020 does not confer any automatic right to secure the provisional or permanent registration with the Dental Council of India or any State Dental Council.
Demo Test for FDGE 2020
A demo test for FDGE 2020 shall be available for the candidates online at nbe.edu.in. A demo test is basically like mock test where candidates can check how the exam will take place. As per the official authority, it is basically a way to make the candidates familiarise with the format of FDGE 2020 – a computer based test.

FDGE 2020 Exam Pattern
Check the exam pattern given below for FDGE 2020.
- No. of papers: The exam consists of two papers.
- Medium of language: The question paper is available in English language only
- Duration of the test: Paper 1 is of 120 minutes and Paper 2 is of 180 minutes. There is a scheduled break between the two papers of 2 hours
- Type of questions: The test consists of multiple-choice questions
- No. of questions: Paper 1 consists of 100 questions, whereas, Paper 2 consists of 150 questions
- Marking scheme: Each question is of 01 mark. There is no negative marking

Viva-Voce Examination for BDS examination
It must be noted that the candidates who qualify the both papers of FDGE 2020 shall have to then appear for Viva-Voce for BDS examination. In the viva-voce, there shall be 2 examiners. Out of these, one examiner will be from the examining university and one external will be from any other university.
The examiners appointed for viva-voce examination would be at par with the qualifications specified for the examiners in DCI Revised BDS Course, Regulations 2007 and MDS Course Regulations, 2007 and 2017, as changed from time to time.
FDGE 2020 Cut Off
In order to qualify FDGE 2020, the candidates need to obtain the minimum qualifying marks individually in every paper. There will be no grace marks awarded to the candidates.

FDGE 2020 Exam Center
Foreign Dental Graduate Examination (Screening Test) 2020 shall take place in Delhi / NCR only. The exact address of the venue shall be indicated in the admit cards of the candidates. The candidates can familiarise themselves with the exam centre one day before the exam. To reach the exam centre, the candidates are required to make their own arrangements for travel / boarding etc.
Important note: No request for the change in allotted FDGE 2020 exam centre shall be entertained under any circumstances.
Exam Day Instructions for FDGE 2020
On the day of the examination, the candidates need to follow some guidelines. Check the points given below for the same:
Social Distanced Computer – Based Test: The test shall be conducted in safe and secure environment where social distance can be maintained.
Entry of candidates: The candidates are required to appear as per the entry time specified in FDGE 2020 admit card. The reporting centre shall close 30 minutes before the starting time of the test. In this time, verification and identification for examination shall take place.
No allowance of friends and relatives at the exam centre: Any friends and relatives accompanying the candidate shall not be allowed to enter the exam centre under any circumstances. Also, anyone cannot contact the candidate while the exam is going on.
Barcode / QR Code reader at entry points: All the candidates have to show their admit card and id proof for the verification at the exam centre. They have to show the admit card to the exam functionary standing across the table with QR code reader / barcode. After this only, the lab number shall be informed to the candidate.
Identity checks at the exam centre: Upon the arrival at the test centre, identity checks shall be made at the exam centre so as to ensure that no unauthorized candidates are appearing for the examination.
Use of Thermo Guns: The candidates appearing for the exam shall be thoroughly checked with thermo guns. In case any candidate have their temperature above normal (>99.14 degree F) or are showing any COVID-19 symptoms shall be allowed to take the exam in a separate isolation rooms.
No arrangement for keeping candidate’s belongings at test centre: There shall be no arrangement made at the test centre for keeping any materials / articles of the candidates. In order to avoid any chaos at the exam centre, the candidates are not required to carry any prohibited items.
Biometric Verification: The finger biometrics will not be captured at the time of registration. However, face id shall be verified at the time of registration. After the verification of face id, the candidates will be given a computer terminal.
Things Allowed in the examination hall: The candidates are allowed to take face masks, hand sanitizer (50 ml), transparent water bottle, gloves.
No frisking at the exam centre: There shall be no frisking (Body pat and HHMD – Hand Held Metal Detector) done at the exam centre due to the social distancing.
No finger biometricts at the exam centre: This time, no finger biometrics shall be captured. However, photograph of the candidates shall be captured. Face id shall be verified at the time of registration and at each bio-break against the photograph uploaded in the application.
No manual attendance: There shall be no manual attendance with finger and ink finger print this time at FDGE 2020 exam centre.
Verification of the candidates: It must be noted that the staff at the examination centre is authorized and instructed to verify the identity of the candidates and may take steps to record their identity. At that time, the candidates are required to cooperate with the staff. It must be noted that the possession or use of electronic devices / mobile phones are not allowed at NBE exam centres. The candidates are liable for penal action if they are found in possession of electronic devices.
Listen to the instructions given by the invigilator carefully: It is advised to all the candidates that they must listen to the instructions given by the invigilator cautiously. Each workstation will be blocked from 3 sides – left, right and front. So, the candidates are not required to look at other candidates as surveillance cameras shall be there to record the video.
Change of seat / system not allowed: During the examination, seat / system change is prohibited without the permission of invigilator or in-charge.
FDGE 2020 Result
Result for FDGE releases online at natboard.edu.in or nbe.edu.in. The candidates are declared to be passed if they obtain a minimum of 50% in each paper separately. The result is declared in the form of a pdf. The pdf displays the following details:
- Roll number of the candidates
- Obtained marks
- Total marks
- Qualifying status
It must be noted that no request for the re-evaluation or re-checking or re-totaling of the result shall be entertained. At the time of declaration of the result, the scheme related to the delivery of authenticated copy of the result is also published.
Non-Disclosure Agreement for FDGE 2020
Given below are some points that the candidates need to keep in mind after appearing for FDGE 2020.
- Foreign Dental Graduate Examination (Screening Test) is a proprietory examination conducted by NBE and the contents of the exam are confidential and owned by NBE. So, the candidates are not allowed to reproduce, transmit or publish or any content of this exam, in whole or in part, verbally or written, via electronic means or mechanical for any purpose.
- NBE shall not entertain any request for sharing the content of the examination such as answer sheets / answer keys.
- Any content of the examination must not be shared with friends, acquaintances or third parties. This includes sharing via online means or through social media. Social media is not limited to only these platforms like SMS, Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp, Hangouts, Blogs etc using any one’s account or proxy accounts.
- Violation of any of the terms and conditions may lead to penal action. Also, breach of these terms and conditions may lead to the cancellation of the candidature.
