JAM 2021 Exam Pattern
Candidates can have a look at the exam pattern of JAM 2021 given below.
- Mode: The exam is a computer-based test
- Duration: The test is of 3 hours duration
- Type of questions: There are MCQs, MSQs and NATs in the test
- Maximum marks: The exam is of 100 marks in total
Marking Scheme: There is negative marking only in Section A. The section B and C does not have any negative marking.

Previous Year Analysis of JAM
Candidates can check the analysis of previous year JAM 2021 given below according to different subjects. Using the analysis candidates can get an idea about which topics for JAM 2021 syllabus are important and what topics generally come in the exam.
Mathematics: MSQ questions were considered to be easy to be moderate. However, MCQ and NATs questions were considered easy by the candidates. The questions were asked from Group Theory, MVC, Vector Calculus, Linear Algebra.
Physics: The questions in this paper was of moderate level. The students considered numerical to be easy. However, the few questions were tricky, indirect and lengthy. Most of the questions were asked from Thermodynamics.
Chemistry: According to the students, the paper was on a moderate to difficult level of difficulty. Candidates found few NATs tricky and indirect whereas, MSQs were considered to be easy and doable. Physical Chemistry was considered a bit tricky by the students.
Biotechnology: The students found MCQ question in Biotechnology paper very easy. Most of the MCQ questions were of 11th and 12th level. However, the questions from Mathematics were considered to be tough.
About JAM 2021
JAM stands for Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. It is a national level online entrance exam that takes place to offer admission to students in M.Sc., Joint M.Sc. – Ph.D, M.Sc. – Ph.D dual degree etc. There are total 6 subject papers in JAM and candidates can opt for maximum 2 papers. Candidates are given 3 hours to complete the exam. The test basically consists of 3 types of questions; MCQs, MSQs and NATs. Candidates can take admission in various IITs, IISERs, IITs and IISCs after qualifying the test.
