How to Recover GATE 2020 Enrollment Id and Password
Enrollment id and password of GATE is generated after submitting GATE application form and the same is needed to access GOAPS and download admit card. If candidates have forgotten any of these details, then they may follow the process below to get it.
How to recover enrollment id of GATE?
- If candidate don’t remember their enrollment id then they can also use e-mail id to open Gate Online Application Processing System.
- Other than this, the enrollment id is also mentioned in the application form confirmation page.
- During registration, enrollment id was also sent at the candidate’s e-mail address.
How to recover GATE 2020 password?
Step 1: Visit the official GOAPS website and click on the “Forgot Enrollment Id and Password” button, as shown below:

Step 2: The candidate are then redirected too a new page, in which they have to select any of the following:
- If you remember the enrollment Id or Email and have forgotten the password, you can receive an OTP via the Email or SMS.
- If you already have an OTP, click on already have OTP option.

Step 3 – If candidate select option 1, then:
- A new pages opens and in it, candidates have to enter – Mobile Number and Enrollment ID / Email Address.
It is important to note that while entering the mobile number there is no need to enter ‘0’ in front of the number.

If candidate select option 2, then:
- They candidates can reset the password by entering – Enrollment ID / Email Address, One Time Password, New Password, Confirm New Password.

Step 4 – After finishing the steps above, the password can be recovered.

How to Download GATE 2020 Admit Card?
The admit card of GATE is only released online. There is no other medium to gain it. In order to download the GATE 2020 admit card, the candidates may follow the steps below:
Step 1: Click on the link above. It leads to login, as displayed below.

Step 2: Next, the candidates need to access the login by entering:
- Enrollment id / e-mail id
- Password
Step 3 – Do the math and answer the security question. When done, click on the blue ‘Submit’ button.
Step 4 – After this, the dashboard opens and candidates can download the admit card by clicking on blue “Download Admit Card” button.

Step 5: The admit card of GATE is then downloaded in a pdf format. Candidates are advised to keep a soft and hard copy of it.

Things to Carry with GATE 2020 Admit Card
It is important to carry admit card on exam day. However, other than the admit card candidates also need to carry other document. How all the documents should be carried on exam day are as follows:
GATE 2020 admit card: Candidates have to carry a coloured printout of the admit card. Soft copy is not accepted in the exam hall.
- The copy of admit card should be in good condition.
Valid Id Proof: Other than the hall ticket, candidates also need to carry one valid id proof. It should be a govt. approved id and must contain photo of the candidates.

Exam Day Instructions for GATE 2020
The candidates can check important exam day instructions for GATE 2020 from below:
Reporting time at the exam center: Candidates have to appear at the GATE exam centre on the date and time specified in the admit card. The candidates are advised to reach the center 1 hour before the exam start time.
Locate the exam center: Candidates are also advised to locate their exam center a day before the exam so that there is no confusion on the exam day to reach the center.
Verification at exam center: Candidates are verified for their identity at the center and only then they are allowed to take the exam.
Biometric Verification: At the exam hall candidates have to go through biometric verification and thus all candidates are advised to avoid mehendi, heena or tattoo on the fingertips.
Leaving the exam hall: No candidates shall be permitted to exit the exam hall before the exam ends.
GATE 2020 Guidelines for Scribe
For GATE, candidate can get their own scribe or request GATE authorities to arrange for one.
If candidates arrange their own scribe:
- Then the qualification of scribe should be one step below the minimum education qualification for GATE.
- If a candidate opted to get their own scribe but did not then at the last moment authorities will not be able to arrange one.
- No honorarium is paid to scribe in this case.
If GATE authority arranges for a scribe:
- The qualification of the scribe shall be more than the minimum eligibility of GATE, it will be matriculation or above.
- The authority shall allow candidates to choose a scribe, amount the available lot.

GATE 2020 Exam Pattern
The exam pattern for GATE 2020 is as follows:
Exam Duration: The candidates get total 3 hours to attempt the examination.
Total Number of Questions: Candidates have to solve 65 questions in the exam.
Type of Questions: 2 types of questions are asked in GATE and these are:
- Multiple choice questions (MCQ)
- Numerical answer type (NAT) questions
Maximum Marks: The exam is of total 100 marks.
- 15 marks are for general aptitude.
- 85 marks for subject paper.

Last minute Revision Tips for GATE 2020 Exam
The last few days before the exam are crucial for success in any exam. Here are some last minute revision tips for the GATE 2020 exam:
Multiple revisions are the key: Every candidate starts preparing for the exam months in advance. But the most important thing they forget is to revise what they studied over time. Hence an important thing would be to revise the entire syllabus.
Solve question papers: Solving previous year question papers give your confidence a boost as you can analyze yourself and find out the topics you have difficulty solving. The papers and answer key are easily available online.
Take online mock test: GATE is an online examination, hence, candidates are advised to take online mock test. It helps in improving efficiency and speed.
Stay away from taking up New Topics: Starting up new topics to study creates a panic-induced environment that is not healthy during the last few weeks of the exam.
Learn to manage time: For the D-day make sure you have charted out how to attempt the questions within 3 hours with plenty of time to recheck the answers. This can be done only by practicing as many mock tests as possible.

GATE 2020 Result
After the exam is over, the candidates can check their GATE 2020 Result and scorecard at appsgate.iitd.ac.in. The raw scores of GATE is normalised for the papers that are held in multiple shift. However, for the papers that are held in 1 single shift the score is based on the candidates’ raw marks in the exam. To check the result the candidates need to use their GATE 2020 enrollment ID and password. Note that the candidates have to also download the GATE 2020 scorecard and keep it safe with them for admission and recruitment purpose. The scorecard of GATE remains valid for a period of 3 months from the date of declaration of the result.
GATE 2020
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a national level engineering entrance exam held annually by IIISc, Bangalore and IIT. On the basis of the exam, admission is granted in M.E / M.Tech / M.Arch / Ph.D courses. The score of GATE is also used for PSU recruitment. GATE is only held online for 25 subjects.
About Indian Institute of Technology
India is home to 23 IITs and these institutes are autonomous public institutes of higher education. The admission in UG courses are based on JEE Main and Advanced. However, the admission in the PG courses are based on GATE. Out of the 23 IITs, IIT Kharagpur is the oldest one and 5 new IITs are located in Goa, Jammu, Bhilai, Dharwad, and Dhanbad.
The IITs enjoy the status of ‘Institute of National Importance’. Each IIT is autonomous, linked to the others through a common council (IIT Council), which oversees their administration.
GATE 2020 Admit Card Frequently Asked Questions
Ans : No.With the admit card candidates have to bring original and valid photo Identity Document, which was specified during the filling up of the online application. For Indian candidates, only following identification cards will be accepted: Passport, PAN card, Voter ID, Aadhaar-UID, College ID, Employee ID and Driving License. For International candidates, only a valid Passport/Government issued ID/College ID/Employee ID will be accepted as the recognized identification.
Ans : No. Hard copy (printed in color) of the Admit Card must be brought to the examination centre along with at least one original (not photocopied/scanned copy) and valid (not expired) Identity Document (ID), which was specified during the filling up of the online application.
Ans : A scribble pad will be provided to the candidate that can be used to do the rough work. The candidate has to return the scribble pad after the examination.
Ans : No. Candidates will not be allowed to leave the GATE 2020 examination hall for any reason during the examination. Candidates are allowed to leave the examination hall only after the scheduled end of the examination.
Ans : Only GATE admit card, Id card and a pen is permitted to be taken inside the examination hall. Mobile phones, physical calculators, wristwatches, or any other electronic items are not permitted inside the examination hall. If a candidate brings any of these items, they have to be kept outside the examination hall at the candidate’s own risk. If the candidate is found to be in possession of these items they will be disqualified.
Ans : No. During the online GATE 2020 examination, all candidates will be provided with a virtual scientific calculator which has to be used to answer the questions. Mobile phones, physical calculators, wristwatches, or any other electronic items are not permitted inside the examination hall.
Ans : No. Such arrangements will not be made at the examination centre of GATE 2020. If a candidate brings personal belongings including mobile phones, they have to be kept outside the examination hall at the candidate\'s own risk. The GATE officials are not responsible for the safe keeping of your personal items.
