GATE 2020 Answer Key
Marks calculated via GATE 2020 answer key are the predicted raw score. The actual raw score and the normalized score of GATE is announced in the result of GATE 2020.

GATE 2020 Answer Key Challenge
Candidates can challenge the official GATE 2020 official answer key. The challenges can be submitted online from the GOAPS website.
To submit the challenge, the fee of Rs. 500 is applicable for each question challenged, as per last year.
Important things to know before challenging GATE 2020 answer key:
How to upload document for challenge: To submit the challenge candidates have to upload supporting document for the contest. In the document mention the section and the question number against which the document is being uploaded.
How to pay the fee and refund of the fee: The payment of the challenge fee is to be paid online. Contests are accepted only if the payment is completed successfully. If the challenge is accepted the fee against it is refunded.
Other important notes: While challenging ensure that the question number is as per the official GATE 2020 question paper uploaded by IIT D. Select the right section and the question number which you wish to contest. If the question number and section are not identified the challenge is not considered.
How to Raise Objection in GATE 2020 Answer Key
To raise objection candidates can check the steps below:
Step 1: The candidates have to login in GOAPS with their login credentials generated during the application process, as shown in the image below:

Step 2: The candidates have to then check the declaration under their login and clcikon the “contest answer key” button, as shown in the image below.

Step 3: The below given screen appears. Herer the students have to fill the below details:
- Section and Question Number
- Justification for Contest (the justification must be within 500 charactes)
- Upload Supporting Document

Step 4: Submit the challenges by clicking on the “submit” button. The candidates are then redirectde to the payment page. pay the required sum of money in the online mode to submit the challenges.
Note: It is important to make sure that with the objection, a document of proof is also uploaded and fee is paid or it shall not be considered.
GATE 2020 Official Answer Key
The official GATE answer key is of two types:
- Provisional answer key
- Final answer key
Provisional answer key – IITs release the provisional answer key after the exam. It is open for scrutiny.
Final answer key – The objections submitted against the provisional answer key are checked. As per all the valid challenges, changes and made in the answer key. The updated answer key is the final answer key. It is to be noted that final key cannot be challenged.
Along with the answer key, IIT also uploads GATE question paper pdf. It is available for all 25 subjects of GATE, including the session 1 and 2 of ME and CE paper.
How to Calculate Score Using GATE 2020 Answer Key
To calculate score using GATE answer key, candidates can use the steps below:
Step 1: Download GATE 2020 answer key for your subject paper. Also, download the response sheet and question paper of GATE 2020.
Step 2: Now match the responses given in the answer from the response mentioned in the response sheet.
Step 3: Next, the candidates need to add or deduct marks, as per the marking scheme. It is as follows:.
For MCQ questions:
- For correct 2 marks question – add 2 marks
- For incorrect 2 marks question – deduct 2/3 marks
- For correct 1 mark question – add 1 marks
- For incorrect 1 mark questions – deduct 1/3 marks.
For NAT questions
- For correct 2 marks question – add 2 marks
- For incorrect 2 marks question – deduct 0 marks
- For correct 1 mark question – add 1 marks
- For incorrect 1 mark questions – deduct 0 marks.
Step 4: When marks are added or deduct for all the questions, candidates get their estimated score of GATE.
GATE 2020 Marking Scheme
In GATE, MCQ and NAT type questions are asked. The marking scheme for both type of questions is as follows:

GATE 2020 Cutoff
A cutoff is used to determine the minimum passing marks is prepared to make a list of candidates who qualify the exam. Candidates who score more than the cut off of GATE, qualify the exam. After calculating the score, candidates can compare their score with the cut off and check if they will qualify the exam or not.

GATE 2020 Result
After the closing of the Contest window, the exam conducting body releases a final answer key on the basis of which the scorecard (result) is prepared. The candidates can check their GATE 2020 result/ scorecard with their marks and an all India rank through the login at the official GOAPS website. The candidates can download their GATE 2020 Result on the scheduled date.
Note: The Scorecard is valid for a period of three years from the date of the declaration of the results.
How to Download GATE 2020 Response Sheet
Before the answer key, the response sheet has been released. Candidates can only download GATE 2020 response sheet from GATE Online Application Processing System. It has been released individually for each candidate and contains all the answers marked by candidates in the exam.
Steps to download the response sheet of GATE 2020 are:
Step 1: Go to gate.iitd.ac.in and access GOAPS by entering enrollment id / e-mail id and password.

GATE 2020
GATE 2020 is held at a national level and in online mode. On of the IITs conduct this exam on a rotational basis. GATE 2020 is conducted by IIT Delhi. The score of GATE 2020 is also used by many PSUs for recruitment.
