Punjabi University Admission 2018

Application form can be filled online from the official website www.pupadmissions.ac.in as per schedule. There are two different methods for admission into different courses first is Entrance Test and second is Without Entrance Test at Patiala Campus and its Regional and Neighbourhood Campuses.

Eligibility Criteria

Revised eligibility criteria of M.tech (AI & Data science)

Generally a graduate in related discipline having 50% (SC/ST 45%) marks will be eligible for admission to the Post-graduate courses in the University/Regional Centres/Neighbourhood Campuses. To confirm see the details of particular department because there may be a difference.

For admission to the M.Sc. courses in various science faculties only those students will be eligible for admission who have studied science subjects for three years at graduate level.

However, specific pre-requisite for each course has been given with detailed information of respective departments.

Candidates belonging to the following categories shall be allowed relaxation of 5% in the aggregate percentage.

  • Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe
  • Physically handicapped, provided that they produce a medical certificate that they have at least 40% physical disability.

Weightage to the marks obtained in the concerned subject at the qualifying examination level will be given for admission to postgraduate courses in the respective departments as per rules laid by the university.

Candidates who have been awarded grades in the qualifying examination shall be required to produce conversion formula for converting the scored grades into percentage marks. In case conversion formula from the concerned organisation is not available a committee comprising of Dean, Academic Affairs, Dean of the Faculty and Head of the Department will decide the weightage.

Where a candidate wants to take the benefit of any additional subject in the total percentage of qualifying examination, the marks of any other subject may be substituted by the marks in the additional subject to the best advantage of the candidate.

Where the candidate has passed B.A. examination under M.I.L. Ordinance, if the candidate so desires, his percentage may be calculated by adding the marks obtained by him/her in Gyani/Prabhakar examination to the marks secured by him/her in B.A. examination and his merit be determined accordingly.

A candidate who has passed the qualifying examination and his/her result is still awaited, may apply subject to the condition that he/she will submit the result or proof of meeting the eligibility requirements at the time of interview. His/her candidature will be cancelled in case of non submission of result and fulfilling eligibility norms by the required date.

To be eligible for admission to a course, a candidate must meet other specific requirements of admission, if any, laid down by the concerned Departments.

The candidate who has already passed M.A./ LL.B. course will not be eligible to join any other M.A. course at Punjabi University campus, Patiala. However, LL.B. pass students can take admission in M.A. Social Work.

A candidate who has already availed of hostel facility during any course completed earlier from this University, will not be allowed hostel accommodation, if he/she is granted admission in other discipline.

Eligibility for evening certificate/diploma courses: All the eligible candidates are entitled for admission. Prescribed fee will be charged from the students.

The admission committee of the department shall reserve the right to reject the candidature of any student seeking admission to the department keeping in view the antecedents and conduct of the student.

In the case of admission of such students against whom disciplinary action has been taken in the past, their application form for admission will be considered after review by the office of Dean Students Welfare and approval of the Vice Chancellor.

Eligibility for admission to courses is given under the serving department/centre/campus.

In case of admission to M.A. in Theatre and Television, Journalism and Mass Communication, Music and Dance 70% weightage will be given to marks of the qualifying examination and 30% to the relevant aptitude test in the respective subjects. Admission will be made on the basis of combined scores of 70 : 30 ratio. Graduation degree with 50% marks is the eligibility for admission in the courses also.

For admission in M.P.Ed. 1st year, all the candidates seeking admission have to pass the physical efficiency test. Weightage to academic and sports performance will be in ratio of 70:30.

Admission Criteria for M.P.Ed. 1st year

  • Physical efficiency test (Qualifying Score is 50%)
    • 50 Meters Dash
    • 600 Meters run/walk
    • Two hands/overhead shot throw (Boys 04 Kg. Girls 2.4 Kg.)
    • Shuttle Run
    • Standing broad jumps
  • Academic Merit – 70 Marks
    * Sports Achievement – 30 Marks
  • Participation in National Level Competition should be supported by other sports certificates

For admission to B.Lib. & Information Science, weightage to Diploma in Library Science and one year certificate course will be 1.5% and 1% respectively of the aggregate marks obtained in B.A./B.Sc./B.Com.

(2 Years), MBA (Dual Degree) (Direct Admission Without Entrance Test), MBA (International Business) (Direct Admission Without Entrance Test), M. Pharmacy, Master Of Physiotherapy.
  • B. A. And Other Bachelor Level Courses In Neighbourhood Campuses, Five Year Integrated Courses In Neighbourhood Campuses, B.A. (Hons.) In Journalism, Mass Communication & Media Technology (3 Years), B.A. (Hon’s) In TV And Film Production (3 Years) Centre For Advanced Media Studies, B. Pharmacy, BPT And M. Sc. Hon’s In Botany (FYIC).
  • Certificate Courses And M. Tech. At YCoE, Talwandi Sabo , Etc.
    In Which Admission Is On The Basis Of Merit In Qualifying Class (No Entrance Test).

The Students Are Advised To Follow Following Two Steps:
STEP ONE: Submit the Online Application-cum-Admission Form.
STEP TWO: Appear for the interview as per schedule given in Handbook of Information.

Category II:

M.Sc. Honours Biotechnology, M. Com., M.Com. (Finance), M.Com. Hon’s (FYIC), M. Sc. Hon’s In Botany (Two Years), M.Sc. Honours Microbial And Food Technology, MCA, M. Tech. (CE, ECE, ME), M. Tech. (CSE), LL.M., M.Ed., MBA, M. Phil, Ph.D., Postgraduate Courses In Which Admission Is On The Merit Basis In The Entrance Test.

The Students Seeking Admission To M.Ed./ MCA/ M.Tech./ L.L.M./ M.Phil. & Ph.D. Courses Are Advised To Follow Following Four Steps:
STEP ONE: Submit the Application-cum-Entrance Test Form ( GATE/ NET/ M. Phil (Punjabi University Entracne Test Qualified)/ UGC etc. have to fill the form compulsorily)
STEP TWO: Download the Admit Card.
STEP THREE: Appear in the entrance test
STEP FOUR: Successful candidates to appear for counseling/interview.

Note: Choice for particular Course/ Institute if not asked in the Application Form will be considered during Physical Counselling/Interview.

Category III:

First Year Of B. Tech. Four Years (CSE, ECE, ECM, ME & Civil), B.Tech. Lateral Entry For Diploma Holders In 2nd Year, Six Year Integrated (First Year), Lateral Entry In Five Years Engineering Management Integrated Programme (Second Year).

The Students Are Advised To Follow Following Two Steps:
STEP ONE: Submit the Application-cum-Admission Form
STEP TWO: Appear for the interview as per schedule given on website.

Category IV: State Level Online Counselling For Law Courses

The Students Are Advised To Follow Following Two Steps:
STEP ONE: Submit the Application-cum-Entrance Test Form
STEP TWO: Download the Admit Card.
STEP THREE: Appear in the entrance test
STEP FOUR: Successful candidates to appear for counseling/interview.

Application form

There are four broad categories of courses under Punjabi university for the academic year 2018-19. Candidates can check the procedure of filling Online Application form the steps given below.

Step-1: Registration Procedure

  • Open www.pupadmissions.ac.in
  • Select the Course Category in which you seek admission
  • Fill the Registration Form Online – kindly fill your particulars as Name, Father’s Name, Date of Birth, Category (SC/ST or General and all others), Mobile No., e-mail address, etc.
  • Make payment using one of the following mode:
    Online Debit/Credit Card/ Net Banking
    Pay-in-slip of State Bank of India
    Punjabi University Cashier Receipt (Only at Patiala Campus)
    (NOTE: In case of b and c take a printout of the Pay-in-slip and deposit the amount in any branch of the concerned bank/ Univesity Cashier. You will be issued User Id and Password (through SMS) only after confirmation of your payment by Centralized Admission Cell. No need to send the Pay-in-Slip to Centralized Admission Cell, but in case Userid and Password are not received within 48 hours, send the scanned copy of Pay-in-slip (in case c)/ University Cash Receipt along with Payment Receipt (in case d) through email at [email protected]
  • Note down your User id for future use. This completes your registration process subject to payment confirmation. To fill your application form please refer to step 2.

Step 2: Fill Online Application Form

  • Open www.pupadmissions.ac.in and open the Application Form by logging on Apply button in the concerned course category using your User id generated at the end of successful registration
    or
    Proceed from Registration Step.
  • Fill the Application Form Online and provide information regarding your academic record, reservation category, etc.
  • After completion of the Application Form click on SAVE button.

Step 3: Edit Your Application Form

  • The registered candidates can edit information filled by them in the Application Form for limited period using User id and password issued to them.
  • Once the Application Fee payment status is confirmed you will be issued User Id and Password. The intimation about this will be made through SMS/e-mail alerts.
  • Candidates making payment using Online Net Banking option or Credit/ Debit Card options will be issued User Id and Password immediately after confirmation of the payment by the gateway.
  • Candidates making payment using Pay-in-slip for SBI or Punjabi University Patiala Cashier Fee Receipt will be issued User Id and Passwords only after confirmation of their payment by Centralized Admission Cell. In case no password is received within 48 hours, contact Centralized Admission Cell.

Step-4 Print The Form

Registered candidates whose payment has been confirmed and who have successfully completed step 2, can print their application forms for their personal record, using User Id and Password.

Note: 

  • Size of Photograph and Signature should be less than 20 KB each.
  • A Candidate who has appeared in the qualifying examination and his/her result is still awaited, may also apply and can submit his/her admission form online as the case may be. He/She has to update his/her online form whenever he/she gets the result till the date given by Centralized Admission Cell (it is in the interest of the applicant), otherwise, he/she will be required to submit his/her result at the time of interview.

Application fee

There are different application fee for different categories of courses. Candidates should be careful while making payment. Some courses have entrance exam while other have no entrance test. Candidates are therefore, be careful while filling up the Online application form.

The Application Fee (Without Late Fee ) For Different Types Of Courses Is As Follows:

  • Courses in which Admission is without Entrance Test – Rs. 1000/- (Rs. 700/- for SC/ ST)
  • M.Tech./ M.Com. Hon’s (FYIC)/ M.Com. (Two years)/ M.Sc. Honours in Botany / L.L.M., M.Sc. Honours Biotechnology and M.Sc. Honours Microbial and Food Technology Course (Entrance Test) – Rs. 1700/- (Rs. 1400/- for SC/ST)
  • M.B.A. (Entrance Test and Application Processing fees) – Rs. 3500/- (for all candidates)
  • M.Ed., MCA, M. Phil/ Ph. D. (Entrance Test) – Rs. 2000/- (Rs. 1400/- for SC/ST)
  • B.Tech. Four Year (CSE, ECE, ME, Civil) – Rs. 3000/- (Rs. 2000/- for SC/ST)

Admit Card

Punjabi University will release the Admit card for M.Com. (Hon’s) Five Year Integrated Course. Admit Card will be available online at the official website. Candidates can download their admit card by visiting the official website. Only those who fill the application form on time will be able to download their admit card.

Answer Key

Punjabi University will publish the Answer Keys for various Course, which can be checked by visiting the official website. Answer Key will be available online. Candidates can download the answer key by visiting the official website or direct link to download the answer key will also be published below. Answer Key will be provided in PDF format.

Important Documents

  • No document is to be attached with online application form.
  • On the day of interview, the candidates are advised to bring the Self attested Photocopies of all certificates regarding:-
    DoB
    DMC of all examinations,
    Character certificatefrom the institution last attended,
    Gap certificate (if any),
    Necessary certificate from employer (for employed candidates only),
    Residence/ domicile certificate,
    Certificate for availing the benefit of a reserved category/ additional seat (Latest and signed by the competent issuing authorities),
