Breaking of Tie in the Merit List
In case of tie in the merit list of Entrance Test, the following criteria will be adopted for breaking the tie
For B.V.Sc. & A.H.
- The candidate obtaining higher marks in Biology in 10+2
- The candidate obtaining higher marks in Chemistry in 10+2
- Candidate senior in age.
B.F.Sc./ B.Tech. (Dairy Technology)/ B.Tech. (Biotechnology) Programmes
- The candidate obtaining higher marks in Mathematics in the CET-GADVASU.
- The candidate obtaining higher marks in Physics in the CET-GADVASU.
- Candidate senior in age.
In case of tie in merit list for Masters’ and Ph.D. programmes, a candidate getting higher percentage of marks in qualifying examination shall be ranked higher. In case of further tie, the candidate senior in age shall be selected.
For Masters’ Programmes: In case of tie in the merit list of ICAR AIEEA-PG entrance examination, a candidate getting higher percentage of marks in qualifying examination shall be ranked higher. In case of further tie, the candidate senior in age shall be considered.
For Ph.D. Programmes: In case of tie in the merit list for Ph.D. programmes, a candidate getting higher percentage of marks in qualifying examination shall be ranked higher. In case of further tie, the candidate senior in age shall be considered.

GADVASU Admission 2020 Application Form
The application form for GADVASU Admission 2020 is made available on the official website, gadvasuadmissions.com. Candidates have to apply online for B.V.Sc & AH and Master Programmes. For B.Tech (Dairy Technology), B.F.Sc. and B.Tech (Biotechnology), candidates can apply online and can download the application form from the official website and submit to the Registrar GADVASU along with DD of Rs. 1500/-.

Entrance Test / Interview Fee
- For B.V.Sc & AH – After filling online application, deposit requisite application fee through net banking or debit/credit card. Application fee of Rs. 5550/- in the form of Bank Draft drawn in favor of the Comptroller, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University payable at Ludhiana should be attached
- For B.Tech (Dairy Technology), B.F.Sc. and B.Tech (Biotechnology), ICAR/ VCI/ Govt. nominee/Other States – Rs. 1500/- Pay as DD along with the paper Application (Offline)
- Masters/ Ph.D Programmes – Rs. 6500/- Pay Online
- NRI Candidates for all programmes – US $750 or equivalent Rs. pay along with the Application either Online or Offline.
The following instructions are to be followed for filling the online application –
- Registration of the candidate shall be the first step of online application. Once the registration is done, candidate can login to the portal using his/her email id and password.
- The candidate is required to select the Programme (UG or PG), the category to which candidate belongs (General/SC/ST/BC) and the type of degree course he/she wants to apply.
- Personal information: First section to be filled in the application form is personal detail and contact details. Name and date of birth should be exactly same as written in matriculation certificate.
- Upload section: This section contains the provision to upload the Images required for filling the online application. You need to have the scanned copy of your passport size photograph, signature & left thumb impression (preferably jpeg format).
- Correspondence Address: This section contains the details of the correspondence address. Enter the complete address and ensure that no part of the address is missing. Enter a valid PIN code.
- Permanent Address: This section contains the details of the permanent address. If permanent address is the same as correspondence address, check the box. Otherwise, candidate should fill permanent address in the space provided.
- Academic record: In this section, the details of the academic qualification/record are to be filled.
- Review the course(s) selected, name, email & mobile number. If all the details are correct, then check the declaration box and click on “Proceed”.
- Preview of Application: The preview page contains the data you filled & images you uploaded in the application. Verify if all the details entered are correct & the images are visible properly. If there is a discrepancy in the data or image is not visible, click on edit form in the bottom of the page & change the data accordingly and click on proceed again.
- Kindly ensure that details filled in the application form are correct. Once submitted, no request for change will be entertained.
- Payment: On clicking payment, you will see the list of payment options available. (Net banking/credit card/ debit card).
- Submitting application: After payment, the candidate will be taken to the application submission page and after successful submission, the application ID will be generated.
- Candidates are requested to note down their application ID and not share it with others. Take the print of the confirmation page & keep it for further reference.
- Click on “download application” to download the filled in application form. This document will act as the acknowledgment for submission of application. Take the print of the same & use it for future reference.
- Once the application is submitted, the student would be provided with a dashboard to view the application status, download application PDF, download admit card, etc.
GADVASU Admission 2020 Eligibility Criteria
The candidates can check the eligibility required for all levels of programmes from this section.
Undergraduate
B.V.Sc. & A.H. 5-year programme: The candidate should have a minimum qualification of 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English from a recognized Indian Board / University with at least 50% marks in aggregate (45% marks in aggregate for DP and 40% marks in aggregate for SC/ST & BC categories) excluding optional subject.
B.F.Sc. (4-year programmes), B.Tech. (Dairy Technology) (4-year programme) & B.Tech. (Biotechnology) (4-year programme)
The candidate should have a minimum qualification of 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology and English from a recognized Indian Board/ University with at least 50% marks in aggregate (45% marks in aggregates for DP and 40% marks in aggregate for SC/ ST & BC categories) excluding optional subject.
Note: Candidate must ensure that he/she has studied same subjects at 10+1 & 10+2 levels.
Postgraduate
M.V.Sc:Animal Genetics & Breeding, Animal Nutrition, Livestock Production Management, Livestock Products Technology, Veterinary Anatomy, Veterinary Biochemistry, Veterinary Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Microbiology, Veterinary Parasitology, Veterinary Pathology, Veterinary Pharmacology & Toxicology, Veterinary Physiology, Veterinary Public Health & Epidemiology, Veterinary Surgery & Radiology, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Extension Education.
The minimum qualification for admission to M.V.Sc. programmes in College of Veterinary Science (other than in-service candidates) shall be B.V.Sc. & A.H. or equivalent degree with minimum OCPA/OGPA of 6.00 (out of 10.00) or at least 60% marks in aggregate.
M.V.Sc. (Animal Biotechnology)/ M.Sc. (Biotechnology): The minimum qualification for admission to M.V.Sc. (Animal Biotechnology)/M.Sc. (Biotechnology) programme (other than in-service candidates) shall be B.V.Sc. & A.H. or B.Sc. (Biotechnology/Medical) or B.Sc. (Hons.) Biotechnology/Biochemistry/Microbiology and Molecular Genetics or equivalent degree with minimum OCPA/OGPA of 6.00 (out of 10.00) or at least 60% marks in aggregate.
M.F.Sc. (Aquaculture, Fisheries Resource Management): The minimum qualification for admission to M.F.Sc. programmes in the College of Fisheries (other than in-service candidates) shall be B.F.Sc. (4-year degree) from a recognized Institute with minimum OCPA/OGPA of 6.00 (out of 10.00) or at least 60% marks in aggregate.
M.Tech. (Dairy Technology): The minimum qualification for admission to M.Tech. (Dairy Technology) programme in the College of Dairy Science and Technology (other than in-service candidates) shall be B.Tech. (Dairy Technology)/B.Tech. (Food Tech.) (4-years degree) or equivalent degree with minimum OCPA of 6.00 (out of 10.00) or at least 60% marks in aggregate.
Note: – Preference will be given to the candidate with B.Tech. (Dairy Technology) degree.
M.Tech (Dairy Engineering): The minimum qualification for admission to M.Tech (Dairy Engineering) programme in the College of Dairy Science & Technology (other than in-service candidates) shall be B.Tech (Dairy Technology)/Food Engineering/Agricultural Engineering (4 years degree) or equivalent degree with minimum OCPA/OGPA of 6.00 (out of 10.00) or at least 60% marks in aggregate.
Note: Preference will be given to the candidate with B.Tech. (Dairy Technology) degree
M.Tech (Dairy Microbiology): The minimum qualification for admission to M.Tech. (Dairy Microbiology) programme in the College of Dairy Science & Technology shall be B.Tech (Dairy Technology)/B.Tech. (Food Tech.) (4 years degree) or equivalent degree with minimum OCPA of 6.00 (out of 10.00) or at least 60% marks in aggregate.
Note: Preference will be given to the candidate with B.Tech. (Dairy Technology) degree.
M.Sc. (Dairy Economics): The minimum qualification for admission to M.Sc. (Dairy Economics) programme in the College of Dairy Science and Technology shall be B.Tech. (Dairy Technology)/B.Sc. Dairying/B.Sc. Dairy Science/B.Sc. Agri. /B.Sc. Agri. (Hons)/B.Sc. or B.A. (Hons) in Economics with Mathematics as one of the subjects/B.V.Sc. & A.H./B.V.Sc./B.Sc. Animal Science with minimum OCPA of 6.00 (out of 10.00) or at least 60% marks in aggregate.
Master’s Programme for in-service candidates
The minimum requirement for admission to Masters’ programmes for in-service candidates in the constituent colleges of GADVASU shall be an OCPA/OGPA of 5.50 (out of 10.00) or 55% aggregate marks or equivalent with professional experience (after completion of Bachelor degree) in any department of Punjab Government/Union Territory of Chandigarh/Central Government/other SemiGovernment/Private sector organizations on the last date of receipt of applications.
For admission under in-service category, only those applications shall be considered which are duly forwarded through proper channel by the Head of Institute or Director concerned, duly certified that during the study period their lien will be retained against regular posts and on completion of their studies, they will join back the said posts. The university may consider the candidate on provisional basis subject to fulfilling the conditions stipulated by the committee.
Ph.D. Programme
(I) College of Veterinary Science: The minimum qualifications for admission to Ph.D. programme shall be Master’s level degree (M.V.Sc.) in respective /related*discipline and B.V.Sc. & A.H. or equivalent degree.
The minimum requirement for admission to Ph.D. programme (other than inservice candidates) shall be a minimum OCPA of 7.00 (out of 10.00) or 70% marks or equivalent at Master’s level and with a minimum OCPA of 5.50 (out of 10.00) or 55% marks or an OGPA of 2.00/4.00 or equivalent at Bachelor’s level.
(II) School of Animal Biotechnology : The minimum qualifications for admission to Ph.D. in Animal Biotechnology/Biotechnology shall be a Master’s degree in Animal Biotechnology/Veterinary Biotechnology/ Biotechnology/Any branch in Veterinary Science/Life Sciences and B.V.Sc. & A.H. or B.Sc. (Biotechnology/ Medical) or B.Sc. (Hons.) Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/ Microbiology & Molecular Genetics or equivalent degree.
The minimum requirement for admission to Ph.D. programme (other than inservice candidates) shall be a minimum OCPA of 7.00 (out of 10.00) or 70% marks or equivalent at Master’s level and with a minimum OCPA of 5.50 (out of 10.00) or 55% marks or an OGPA of 2.00/4.00 or equivalent at Bachelor’s level.
(III) College of Fisheries : The minimum qualifications for admission to Ph.D. programme shall be Master’s level degree (M.F.Sc.) in respective/related* discipline and B.F.Sc. (4 year degree programme).
The minimum requirement for admission to Ph.D. programme (other than inservice candidates) shall be a minimum OCPA of 7.00 (out of 10.00) or 70% marks or equivalent at Master’s level and with a minimum OCPA of 5.50 (out of 10.00) or 55% marks or an OGPA of 2.00/4.00 or equivalent at Bachelor’s level.
*The student will be required to clear courses of major field as deficiency courses, as per the recommendation advisory committee
Ph.D. Programme for inservice candidates
- The minimum requirement for admission to Ph.D. programme for inservice candidates in the College of Veterinary Science/Fisheries/School of Animal Biotechnology shall be an OCPA of 6.50 (out of 10.00) or equivalent at the Master’s level and OCPA of 5.50 (out of 10.00) or an OGPA of 2.00/4.00 or equivalent in the B.V.Sc. & A.H./B.F.Sc./B.Sc. (Biotechnology/Medical) or B.Sc. (Hons.) Biotechnology/Biochemistry/Microbiology and Molecular Genetics or equivalent degree programme.
- For the purpose of admission to Ph.D. programme, an inservice candidate shall be an employee of GADVASU or PAU or any State University or any national institute or Punjab Govt. or Union Territory of Chandigarh or Central Government or Private sector organizations having experience of Teaching/Research/Extension.
- For admission under inservice category, only those applications shall be considered which are duly forwarded through proper channel by the Head of institute or Director concerned, duly certified that during the study period their lien will be retained against regular posts and on completion of their studies, they will join the said posts. The university may consider the candidate on a provisional basis subject to fulfilling the conditions stipulated by the committee.

GADVASU Admission 2020 Selection Procedure
Selection criteria varies for different programmes. Check the course-wise procedure for selection below.
(a) Undergraduate Programmes:
B.V.Sc. & A.H. Programme
Admissions will be made as per the merit list made on the basis of marks obtained by the candidate in the Qualifying examination (10+2) (aggregate of English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology).
B.F.Sc./ B.Tech. (Dairy Technology)/ B.Tech. (Biotechnology) Programmes
A merit list of the eligible candidates based on the marks obtained in the 10+2 examination shall be prepared for each programme.
(b) Master’s & Ph.D. Programmes: Candidates resident of Punjab for admission to Master’s
programmes will be considered in the respective discipline as opted in ICAR AIEEA-PG-2020 on the basis of merit of AIEEA-PG-2020 entrance examination including for reserved categories. Selection to the Ph.D. programme will be done on the basis of Cumulative score of qualifying examination (80%) and the interview (20%). To be eligible for Ph.D. admission, candidates must secure a minimum of 50% marks in the interview.
Admission to Ph.D. programmes shall be based on the merit of candidates as below.
- Performance in qualifying examination – 80%
- Interview – 20%
- The students shall appear in the counselling based upon the merit so derived.
Vacant seats, if any will be offered to candidates of other states, who have already applied and appeared in the interview for admission to Ph.D. programme, will be considered for admission on merit basis.
(c) Diploma in Inland Fisheries (DIF): Inservice candidates of Punjab State Fisheries Department nominated by Director-cum-Warden Fisheries, Punjab are eligible for admission to the DIF.
GADVASU Admission 2020 Cut-Offs
Cutoffs for admission to GADVASU will be released as per the schedule, candidates can only get admission if they meet the cutoff score as released by the University. The candidates whose score will be less then the cutoff score are not going to be entertained at the time of admission.

- Re-totalling fee of Rupees Five Hundred Fifty (Rs.550/-) only per paper shall be charged from
the applicant students. - Supplementary examination fee of Rupees One Thousand One Hundred (Rs. 1,100/-) only per
course from all students appearing in a supplementary examination shall be charged. - The private colleges/institutes affiliated to GADVASU will charge the same fees from the students eligible for Post Matric Scholarship Scheme admitted under SC/ST Category (University Quota) as is being charged by the university from the students of said category in respect of the particular course.
