The CMAT 2027 syllabus covers five sections: Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension, General Awareness, and Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Has the CMAT 2027 syllabus been released?
No. NTA will confirm the CMAT 2027 sections in the information bulletin, expected with registration in October to November 2026. The latest bulletin, for 2026, lists the five sections and the marking scheme but no topic-wise syllabus. The section topics have stayed the same over recent papers, so you can start preparing now.
What topics come in CMAT Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation?
- Arithmetic: number system, percentages, profit and loss, simple and compound interest, ratio and proportion, averages, time and work, time, speed and distance, mixtures.
- Algebra: linear and quadratic equations, inequalities, progressions, logarithms.
- Geometry and mensuration: triangles, circles, coordinate geometry, area and volume.
- Modern maths: permutations and combinations, probability, sets and Venn diagrams.
- Data interpretation: tables, bar graphs, line graphs, pie charts and caselets.
- Data sufficiency.
What topics come in CMAT Logical Reasoning?
- Syllogisms, blood relations, coding-decoding and direction sense.
- Number and letter series, analogies and odd one out.
- Seating arrangement, puzzles, and calendar and clock problems.
- Statement and assumption, statement and conclusion, cause and effect.
- Critical reasoning and non-verbal reasoning.
What topics come in CMAT Language Comprehension?
- Reading comprehension passages.
- Grammar and sentence correction.
- Para jumbles and para completion.
- Vocabulary: synonyms, antonyms, idioms and phrases, one-word substitution.
- Fill in the blanks and cloze test.

- Current affairs of the last 12 to 18 months: national and international events, government schemes, appointments.
- Indian polity, history, geography and economy.
- Business and trade: companies, mergers, brands and business people.
- Awards, sports, books and authors.
- General science and Indian culture.
What topics come in CMAT Innovation and Entrepreneurship?
- Concepts and types of innovation and the innovation life cycle.
- Entrepreneurship basics and the qualities of entrepreneurs.
- India’s startup ecosystem, business models and startup funding (angel, venture capital).
- Government schemes such as Startup India, Stand Up India, Atal Innovation Mission and MUDRA.
- Intellectual property rights: patents, trademarks, copyrights and designs.
- Social entrepreneurship and well-known entrepreneurs.
What is the CMAT 2027 exam pattern and marking scheme?
CMAT has 100 multiple-choice questions to be answered in 180 minutes in computer-based mode, in English only. The table shows the latest official pattern (2026 bulletin).

A correct answer gets 4 marks and a wrong answer loses 1 mark; unanswered questions get no marks. If a question is dropped after the answer key challenge, all candidates get full marks for it.
How should you prepare for the CMAT 2027 syllabus?
- Give equal time to all five sections, since each carries 80 marks. General Awareness and Innovation and Entrepreneurship are often skipped but score well with regular reading.
- Read a newspaper daily and keep short notes on business news, schemes and startups.
- Use standard books for quant and reasoning, such as Arun Sharma’s CAT series and R. S. Aggarwal’s quantitative aptitude and reasoning books, and Word Power Made Easy for vocabulary.
- Solve the CMAT previous year question papers as timed three-hour tests.
- Answer only when you are fairly sure, because each wrong answer costs 1 mark.
