The Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun was established in 2005 UKTECH campus is situated at NH-72 Suddhowala, Dehradun, State capital of Uttarakhand. UTU has been established in an area of 8.372 hectare and it is the only affiliating University of the state for technical institutions. There are 8 Constituent and 132 affiliated colleges with 33,000 students in various courses.

Uttarakhand Technical University Admission
UTU takes admission in various courses based on entrance examination conducted by the university or all India Level / State Level examination. The details of entrance exams and admissions is given here.
Important Points regarding UTU Admission
- Incomplete application will be rejected.
- No TA/DA will be admissible to be the candidates called for the entrance examination/counselling.
- The decision of University for the selection of candidates shall be final.
- Admission to an institute implies acceptance by the candidate of all the provisions given in the brochure / prospectus of the University. Any change in the rules, regulations, fees, special conditions, etc. of the institute will apply to him/her.
UTU UG Admission
All the undergradudate admission are done on the basis of inter-se merit of Uttarakhand State Entrance Examination (UKSEE) except B.Tech Admission in which candidate is admission on the basis of JEE score. Other requirements for specific courses are given below.
B.Pharma Admission: Candidates belonging to all categories for admission to the B.Pharmacy course must have obtained individual pass marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany & Zoology or Mathematics both in theory and practical.
B.Pharma (Lateral Entry) Admission: Candidates should pass with 60% aggregate marks in Diploma (Pharmacy-Allopathy) (2 years after 10+2) or equivalent (Diploma should be recognized by PCI)
BHMCT Admission: The candidate should have passed Class 12th of CBSE or any other equivalent board. Candidate must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. The aggregate will be calculated as the aggregate of best of four subjects including one language and compulsory subject. Moreover, he/she must have passed English; either core or functional, in any case as a subject.
B.Tech (Lateral Entry): A candidate must have passed the three years Diploma in Engineering of State Board of Technical Education from an AICTE approved institution in the appropriate branch of engineering / technology in aggregate of all semesters OR have passed the three years B.Sc. Degree from a recognized university and should have passed XII standard with mathematics as a subject.
M.Tech Admission: Candidate should have passed with minimum 60% (55% for SC / ST) marks in B.Tech or equivalent courses. Candidates having 60% marks and valid qualified GATE score for General / OBC candidates and 55% of marks and valid qualified GATE score SC/ST candidates will be given preference in admission.Candidates having valid and qualified GATE score are not require to appear in University entrance examination. In counseling first seats will be filled by the valid score GATE candidates and if interested candidates with valid GATE score are not available then remaining seats will be filled according to the merit of University Entrance Examination.
MCA Admission is based on the inter-se merit of UKSEE. Aspirants who have done their BCA, BBA or B.Tech can apply for the MCA course. Students who have finished their graduation in science can also apply. These students must have studied Mathematics as a subject in class 10+2. There is no age limit regarding the admission to this course. Students who would like to join the MCA course must have a pass in graduation with more than 60 percent marks. They need to write an entrance exam as to get admission into the MCA course.
M.Pharm Admission: Candidate should heave passed with minimum 55% (50% for SC / ST) marks in B. Pharm. or equivalent from PCI approved Institute. Candidates having 55% marks and valid qualified GPAT score for General / OBC candidates and 50% of marks and valid qualified GPAT score SC/ST candidates will be given preference in admission. Candidates having valid and qualified GPAT score are not require to appear in University entrance examination. In counseling first seats will be filled by the valid score GPAT candidates and if interested candidates with valid GPAT score are not available then remaining seats will be filled according to the merit of University Entrance Examination.
The University imparts education in Graduate, Post Graduate and Doctorate programmes in various disciplines like Management, Engineering, Hotel Management, Computer Application, Pharmacy etc.
The University is serving the technical education through its progress monitored each semester, part time Ph.D programme especially designed for the teachers and scientists by giving them opportunity to explore the untouched area of the research. The University in its own campus running M.Tech and M.Pharma Programme in various disciplines. Apart from this University is having 8 Constituent Colleges. Spreading Technical Education in the remote underprivileged area of Uttarakhand hills.
