The Dibrugarh University Research Admission Test (DURAT 2017) shall be conducted by a Board, to be called DURAT Board, constituted by the Vice-Chancellor for a period of three years. The Dean, Research and Development and the Deputy Registrar (Academic) shall be the Chairperson and Member Secretary respectively. Master Degree holders of recognized Universities securing 50% marks or equivalent grade point are eligible for the Dibrugarh University Research Admission Test (DURAT). DURAT will be held on 03 Dec 2017 for admission to the Ph.D and M.Phil Programmes in the following subjects:

Eligibility Criteria

A candidate intending to appear in the DURAT 2017 for admission to the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and the M.Phil Programmes shall have to obtain at least 55% marks in OR equivalent grade point in the Masters Degree, in which he/ she intends to appear in the DURAT.

A relaxation upto 5% of marks or an equivalent relaxation of grade in the qualifying degree is allowed for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) and the Differently-Abled category.

DURAT 2017 Exam Pattern

The DURAT shall be conducted in a single paper which shall comprise of two parts- (a) 50% on Research Methodology/ Research Aptitude (Group A) and (b) 50% from Core Course Components of the subject concerned (Group B). The paper shall carry 100 marks. The duration of the DURAT shall be of two and half hours.

The pattern of the Question Papers shall be as below:

  • There shall be Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions for 50 Marks containing 25 questions. Each question shall carry 2 marks. 12/13 questions shall be set from Group A, i.e, from Research Methodology/Research Aptitude and 12/13 questions from the Group B, i.e, the Core Course Components of the subject concerned.
  • The internal option of each question in the Group A is 4(four)
    There will be negative marking of 25% of allotted marks against each incorrect response.

A total of 50 marks of the Question paper shall contain Descriptive Type questions. These shall be distributed as below-

  • Group A (Research Methodology/ Research Aptitude) = 25 marks
    • Two Essay Type Questions of 10 marks each (10×2) = 20 marks
    • One short note or short answer type Question = 5 marks
  • Group B (Core Course Components of the subject) = 25 marks
    • Two Essay Type Questions of 10 marks each (10×2) = 20 marks
    • One short note or short answer type Question = 5 marks

The candidates shall be required to write their answers of Group A and Group B in two separate Answer Scripts.

  • The questions of the Group A shall have to be attempted in the Response Sheet within the first hour of the Test and shall be required to return to the Invigilators(s) present on duty.
  • The questions of the Group B shall have to be attempted in the Answer Script within stipulated duration of the Test and shall be required to return to the Invigilator(s) present on duty.
