Modes of Admission in IIIT Hyderabad
There are 6 modes of entrance exams to get admission in IIIT Hyderabad. These 6 modes are as explained below.
UGEE – Under Graduate Entrance Exam
About: UGEE Entrance exam is basically for Under Graduate Entrance Examination which will be conducted in online mode. In UGEE, candidates will have to attempt two Papers for Subject Proficiency Test and Research Aptitude Test. Both the papers will cover the syllabus of CBSE class 11 and 12.
Eligibility: Those candidates can apply who passed class 12 with 60% marks in PCM OR those who qualified for NTSE / KVPY are eligible for UGEE.
Admission Process: Entrance exam followed by interview round.
Courses Offered: Through UGEE, the admission shall be granted in 4 courses. the list of courses is given below.
- CND: Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Master of Science in Computational Natural Sciences by Research.
- CLD: Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Master of Science in Computational Linguistics by Research.
- ECD: Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Communication Engineering and Master of Science in Electronics and Communication Engineering by Research.

JEE Main 2019 – Joint Entrance Examination
About: Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main is a National Level UG Engineering and Architecture entrance exam which is conducted by NTA (National Testing Academy) from this year onward. The JEE Main is for those students who are aspiring to study in India’s top-most engineering colleges including NITs, IIITs, CFTIs.
Eligibility: Applicant must have qualified JEE Main 2019 and should have scored more than 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in class 12th.
Admission Process: Through Counselling.

SPEC – Special Channel
About: This channel of admission is open for those candidates who were selected for Udaan or six year 12+B.Tech program. The candidates will only have to appear for Research Aptitude Test.
Eligibility: Candidate should have passed 12th class with PCM and must have been selected for Udaan or 4th semester of integrated six-year 12th + B.Tech program after class 10th.
Admission Process: Entrance exam followed by interview round.

Direct Admission – Through DASA
About: Foreign candidates get direct admission in IIIT Hyderabad. The admission is on the basis of SAT scores. For this mode, those candidates can apply who have studied XI and XII from an institute outside India and have a valid SAT score.
Eligibility:
- Interested candidates should have completed 12th class or equivalent by May 2019 or earlier. Candidate should have scored at least 60% marks (or 6.0 grade on 10 point scale) in each of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
- Applicants should have a minimum aggregate score of 1070 (out of a maximum of 1600) in SAT, and also a minimum aggregate score of 2000 (out of a maximum of 2400) in SAT Subject Tests in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics level 2. Both scores are mandatory.
- The ranking will be based on the SAT Subject scores with SAT scores used to break ties, as detailed in our web page.
