Paramedical Admission 2027 State-Wise: How It Works

There is no single all-India paramedical entrance exam. Each state or institute runs its own process, and the type of course (certificate, diploma or degree) decides who can apply. Here is how the main routes tracked on this site work.

Jammu and Kashmir

JK Paramedical 2027 is conducted by the J&K Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (JKBOPEE) for paramedical diploma and B.Sc paramedical courses in government colleges of the Union Territory. Admission is on the basis of the entrance test merit, followed by counselling. JKBOPEE also handles the Class 10 based FMPHW and MMPHW health worker courses, and domicile rules apply.

Uttar Pradesh

UP CPET 2027 is the Combined Paramedical Entrance Test of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University (ABVMU), Lucknow. It is used for paramedical bachelor’s and master’s courses such as BPT, BMLS, B.Optom and BMRIT in colleges affiliated to ABVMU and in state institutions in UP. Diploma paramedical admissions in UP follow a separate process, so read the notice for your course.

Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand Paramedical 2027 is run by Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Uttarakhand Medical Education University (HNBUMU), Dehradun, for paramedical courses in its constituent and affiliated colleges. Students from the state should plan for it along with the university’s nursing admissions.

Jharkhand

Jharkhand Paramedical is conducted by the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB). It covers certificate courses, for which Class 10 is enough, and diploma courses such as lab, X-ray and OT technician courses, which need Class 12 with science.

West Bengal

SMFWBEE is the entrance exam of the State Medical Faculty of West Bengal for diploma and certificate paramedical courses in medical colleges and approved institutes of the state. Candidates need Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Degree courses such as BPT and BMLT in West Bengal go through JENPAS UG 2027, conducted by WBJEEB.

National Institutes

PGIMER Paramedical 2027 is held by PGIMER Chandigarh for its B.Sc and M.Sc allied health and medical technology courses. Seats are limited and the test is competitive. For speech and hearing courses such as BASLP, see AIISH 2027 at the All India Institute of Speech and Hearing, Mysuru. The AIIPMR admission at the All India Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Mumbai, is a route for physiotherapy and occupational therapy.

Other States

In Rajasthan, RUHS CUET 2027 covers allied health courses in RUHS colleges, and RUHS MPH is for public health. Some states fill BPT and similar seats through NEET UG 2027 scores in state counselling, while many states admit to diploma courses on Class 12 merit. Always check the state health university or paramedical council for your state.

Paramedical Courses After 10th and After 12th

What you can apply for depends on your last qualification. Choose the course first, then look for the exam or merit process that fills it.

LevelTypical CoursesUsual Entry
Certificate (after 10th)Health worker (FMPHW, MMPHW), lab or X-ray attendant, dresserClass 10
Diploma (after 12th)DMLT, Diploma in Radiography, OT Technology, Dialysis Technology, ECG TechnologyClass 12 science, usually PCB
Degree (after 12th)BPT, BOT, BMLT or B.Sc MLT, B.Sc Radiography, B.Optom, BASLP, B.Sc Anaesthesia and OT TechnologyClass 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English
PG (after graduation)MPT, MOT, M.Sc MLT, MPH, M.Sc in allied health specialitiesBachelor’s degree in the related subject

Which Paramedical Course Is Best?

No single course is best for everyone. BPT suits students who like hands-on patient work and can commit to a longer degree that includes an internship. BMLT and radiography suit those who prefer diagnostics and lab work. Optometry and BASLP are narrower fields with steady demand. If you want to start working early, a two-year diploma after 12th is the shorter route, and many diploma holders later move to a degree through lateral or regular admission where allowed.

Eligibility for Paramedical Admission 2027

Each exam sets its own rules, but most follow the same broad pattern:

  • Degree courses: Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, and English, with a minimum aggregate in PCB that varies by state and category. Mathematics is not usually required.
  • Diploma courses: Class 12 with science. Some states accept PCM for certain technician courses.
  • Certificate courses: Class 10 pass.
  • Age: many exams set a minimum age of 17 years by 31 December of the admission year, and some state courses also have an upper limit.
  • Domicile: state quota seats are usually reserved for domicile holders of that state.

Students appearing in Class 12 in 2027 can usually apply and submit the result at counselling. Check the exact percentage and age rules on each exam’s page.

How to Apply for Paramedical Admission 2027

  1. Pick your course level and state, then find the matching exam in the list above.
  2. Read the official information bulletin for eligibility, seats, reservation and the exam pattern.
  3. Register on the official website and fill the online form with your Class 10 and 12 details.
  4. Upload your photograph, signature and certificates, and pay the fee online.
  5. Download the admit card, take the test and track the result and merit list.
  6. Register for counselling, fill your college and course choices, and report with original documents after allotment.

Documents Required

Keep these ready: Class 10 marksheet or certificate (for date of birth), Class 12 marksheet, domicile certificate, caste or category certificate, EWS or income certificate if claiming that quota, Aadhaar or other photo ID, recent photographs, and a medical fitness certificate if the college asks for it.

Merit-Based Admission, Counselling and Seat Allotment

After the entrance test, the conducting body publishes a merit list or rank card. Seats are then allotted through online or offline counselling based on rank, category, choices and seats available. Ties are usually broken by marks in specific subjects and then by age, as set out in each bulletin.

Paramedical Admission Without Entrance Exam

Many private colleges and some state institutes admit to diploma and B.Sc paramedical courses on Class 12 marks, and private universities often run their own test or interview. These routes are genuine, but confirm that the college and course are approved by the state paramedical council or affiliated to a recognised university before paying any fee. Merit-based admission still depends on your marks and the seats available, so no college can guarantee a seat in advance.

Career Options After a Paramedical Course

Paramedical graduates work as physiotherapists, lab technologists, radiographers, OT and anaesthesia technologists, optometrists and audiologists in hospitals, diagnostic labs and clinics. Government jobs come through state health departments, railways and central recruitment for technician posts. After a degree, you can study further through an MPT, M.Sc MLT or MPH. Allied health professions in India are now regulated under the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP) Act, 2021, so check the course recognition before you join.

Paramedical Admission 2027 FAQs

How do I get paramedical admission in 2027?

Decide your course level first: certificate after 10th, diploma or degree after 12th, or PG after graduation. Then apply for the matching state entrance exam, institute test or merit-based admission listed on this page. Most routes end in counselling, where seats are allotted on rank or merit.

Can I do a paramedical course after 10th?

Yes, but only certificate and some health worker courses accept Class 10, such as the FMPHW and MMPHW courses in Jammu and Kashmir and certificate courses under JCECEB in Jharkhand. Diploma and degree paramedical courses need Class 12, usually with science.

Which entrance exam is required for paramedical courses after 12th?

It depends on your state and institute. Examples are JK Paramedical, UP CPET, Uttarakhand Paramedical, Jharkhand Paramedical, SMFWBEE and JENPAS UG in West Bengal, and PGIMER Paramedical at the national level. Some states use NEET UG scores for courses like BPT, and many colleges admit on Class 12 marks.

Is NEET required for paramedical admission?

Not in general. Most paramedical diploma and degree admissions use a state paramedical test or Class 12 merit. A few states and institutes use NEET UG scores for physiotherapy and some allied health degrees, so check the notice for your state.

Can I get paramedical admission without an entrance exam?

Yes. Many private colleges and some state institutes admit on Class 12 marks, and private universities may hold their own test or interview. Make sure the college is affiliated to a recognised university or approved by the state paramedical council before you pay.

What is the eligibility for BPT and BMLT admission?

Which paramedical course is best after 12th?

It depends on your interest. BPT suits students who want hands-on patient care, while BMLT and radiography suit those who prefer diagnostics. A diploma such as DMLT is shorter and gets you working sooner, while a degree opens more senior and government roles.

What documents are required for paramedical counselling?

Usually the Class 10 and Class 12 marksheets, domicile certificate, category or EWS certificate if claimed, photo ID, the exam admit card and rank card, and passport-size photographs. Some colleges also ask for a medical fitness certificate.
