The Karnataka Common Entrance Test 2014 is being conducted for the purpose of determining the eligibility / merit, for admission of Karnataka candidates and the ward/s of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants

    • http://aglasem.com/ Anwesha Bose

      Hello Rajesh

In light of clarifications, let me make it clear to you. KCET forms must be filled if and only if the candidate is either a student of Karnataka or a student outside Karnataka with Karnataka domicile.

If you are an outside Karnataka student, the one exam you must absolutely give is the JEE Main. This will be your gateway to admission in NIT Surathkal.

Also, the Manipal University, also in Karnataka, conducts its separate admission process, please apply to that too.

Other great colleges you could apply to are

      PES Institute of Technology, Bangalore
      RV College of Engineering, Bangalore
      BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore
International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore.

      Hope this helps!

  • Prarthana

    Hello Maam

There is a clause about mother tongue of candidate & either of the parent Should be Kannada to be eligible under Horanadu gadinadu criteria but regions of Karnataka like manglore , Karwar , North Canara do have konkani speaking GSB communities who also hail from Karnataka. I was born In Karnataka N have studied for 4 years there with a language of Kannada as 2nd language & also ma dad was previously domiciled there as he was born completed his studies for almost 25 years But I study outside Karnataka And i do know to write & speak Kannada . so ma’am could you please let me know what i should do ?? will i be eligible ??

    • http://aglasem.com/ Anwesha Bose

      Hello Prarthana
You are looking at Horanadu gadinadu criteria, that means, I believe that you wish to claim eligibility under clause c or d.

However, in your case, from what you have told here, are you not eligible for Clause b?
Clause B: “The candidate should have studied and passed either 1st and 2nd year Pre-University Examination or 11th and 12th standard examination within the State of Karnataka from an Educational Institution run or recognized by the State Government and that either of the parents should have studied in Karnataka for a minimum period of SEVEN years.”

      Documents needed

      1) SSLC / 10th standard Marks Card,
      2) 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks Card of the candidate;
      3) If claiming reservation benefits:- Caste / Caste Income Certificate issued by Tahsildar- For SC / ST in Form-D, Category-I in Form-E and 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B in Form-F., along with –
      4) (a) a study certificate for either of the parent having studied for at least 7 years in Karnataka from the Head of the educational institution where he / she had studied.
      (b) the candidate’s study certificate for having studied both 1st & 2nd PUC or 11th & 12th standard in Karnataka issued by the head of the educational institution.

A Horanadu Gadinadu candidate is one who is residing outside Karnataka. But you have done your 11th, 12th from Karnataka, right?

  • sonu

      Hello Sonu

If the Joint Sector Undertaking employee is liable to be transferred anywhere in India and has worked in Karnataka in the tenure of employment, you should be eligible under this clause. Howevere you will need the following certificate – A certificate from the employer indicating the parent’s period of employment in the State of Karnataka and also showing that he is transferable anywhere in India.

      • sonu

thank u maam … in such a case should i write kannada exam ??
