Mumbai University Admission Process 2019
The admission in Mumbai University is granted on the basis of:
- Merit List
- Entrance Exam
Mumbai University Merit Based Admission 2019: In the merit based admission, candidates submit admission form and Pre-admission form. After that, the merit list is prepared by each college individually and candidates are called for the document verification round.
Mumbai University Entrance Based Admission 2019: For admission in a few courses, the entrance exam is also conducted. The candidates who qualify the exam gets admission in the colleges of Mumbai University.

MU Application Form for Merit Basis Admission
For admission in UG courses the candidates have to fill admission forms. The sale for this is offline and candidates have to fill it for each college in which they want to take admission. On the other hand, the candidates also need to fill Pre- Admission form. It is mandatory to submit MU Admission Form and Pre-Admission Form.
MU Application Form for Entrance Exam Basis Admission
The application form for each entrance examination is release as per the timeline of the exam. The forms are mostly released offline but for few exams copy of it can be downloaded from the official website.
Mumbai University Admission Eligibility Criteria 2019
It is mandatory for the candidates to fulfil the eligibility criteria of admission. The required criteria is as follows:
For F.Y.B.A, F.YB.Sc, F.Y.B.Com, F.Y.B.M.M, F.Y.B.S.W, F.Y.B.A, F.Y.B.M.S., F.Y.B.M.S- F.Y.M.B.A, F.Y.B.Voc, F.Y.B.Library Science Courses (UG Courses)
(i) Candidate must have passed Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination (HSSC), from a school or institution recognized under Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.
(ii) Candidates seeking admission in integrated BA, B.Sc and B.Comcourses must have secured a minimum of 45% marks in HSSC.
Out of 120,85% seats are filled by candidates who are domicile of Maharashtra. The basic eligibility criteria for MUCLET is as follows:
(i) Candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with minimum 45% marks. Candidates under the category of SC and ST need to secure minimum of 40% marks.
(ii) Applicant must score minimum cut off marks in MUCLET 2019 to be considered for Mumbai University Admission.
For M.Sc Courses
Admission in Mumbai University for M.Sc courses Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Microbiology and Biochemistry will be done on the basis of Merit List. However, University has 2 different set of eligibility criteria for Mumbai University Admission. Preference will be given in merit list as per the list given below:
A. For Mumbai University Students:
(i) Applicant must have declared pass in First class without any grace marks and having only 1 major subject.
(ii) In case 2 or more applicants marks are equal CGPA will be taken into consideration.
(iii) Applicant who have passed in First class with grace marks or passed with Second class will only 1 major subject.
(iv) Students having 2 major subjects and one of them being Chemistry in T.Y.B.Sc, then only marks of Chemistry will be considered for the position in merit list.
Only one merit list will be made for every single subject. Mumbai University Admission 2019 will be done on the basis of that merit list. Students who want to see the merit list will be able to download it from the official website. A copy of the merit list will also be displayed on the notice board of University.
B. For Other University Students:
Merit list of all the students from University other than Mumbai University will be released for the seats remaining. The applicant will be required to submit the Xerox copy of B.Sc mark sheets for all 3 years.
For Ph.D courses
Candidates who wish to take Mumbai University Admission 2019 or Ph.D programme must appear for Ph.D Entrance Test (PET) 2019. Only those candidates will be admitted who will score minimum cut off marks required.
However, candidates who fulfil any one of the following criteria will be exempted from PET 2019:
(i) Candidates who have qualified GATE/ NET/ SET/ JRF Examination
(ii0 Candidates, who are teacher fellowship holder of CSIR/ ICMR/ UGC/ DBT/ ICAR only.
(iii) Candidates have completed M.Phil degree for Mumbai University or other recognized University present in India.
The above mentioned candidate who wishes to apply for Ph.D programme must submit the completed application form directly to the Research Centre within 15 days from the date of release of notification.
Mumbai University Exam Pattern and Syllabus 2019
For admission in various programmes in the University of Mumbai entrance test is being conducted. Admission is granted on the basis of marks scored by the candidate in the exam.
MUCLET – For Admission in BBA-LLB
MUCLET is conducted in offline mode. It is a 120 minutes examination, in which candidates have to solve 100 questions of MCQs type. Questions in exam consist of English Grammar and Vocabulary, Current Affairs, General Knowledge, Basic Mathematics, Legal Reasoning and Aptitude.
PET – For Admission in Ph.D
PET is a 100 marks exam, the duration of which is 180 minutes. Candidates are asked questions from topics based on compulsory/ core paper in respective subjects from PG Degree level.
The question paper will be divided into 3 sections.
In-order to be considered for merit list, the candidate must secure minimum 50 marks in PET 2019.
Mumbai University Merit 2019
The merit of the candidates is either prepared on the basis of class 12 marks or the marks secured by the candidates in the entrance examination. Merit is important because on the basis of it, candidates are called for the document verification round.
