Tamil Nadu Open University (TNOU) Admission 2019
The Programmes conducted by the Tamil Nadu Open University have been recognized by the following statutory authorities.

- Distance Education Council [DEC]
- National Council for Teacher Education [NCTE]
- Rehabilitation Council of India [RCI]
The University offers Programmes at various levels leading to Certificates, Diplomas, Post-Graduate Diplomas, Bachelor Degrees and Master Degrees. Each of the Programmes at the University is constituted by a certain number of Courses and each Course is divided into a number of Units (of study).

TNOU has released the list of eligible candidates for Ph.D entrance examination for jan 2019 batch. Candidates who are willing to give the exam are requested to check the list. TNOU 2019 Application Form
The Application Forms together with the Prospectus are issued separately for the above two admission cycles. The applicants shall use the application for admission prescribed for the respective admission cycle only.

Application Fee: For Ph.D Regulation and M.Phil,
Application Fee – Rs. 500
Registration Fee – Rs. 1000
The Application Form once sold shall not be taken back and the cost of Application Form will not be refunded or adjusted towards any purpose
Note: Applicants who wish to enrol for a Diploma / Certificate Programme under the scheme of Dual Registration shall submit separate Application Forms.
Submission of Application Form
Before submitting the Application Form, applicants are asked to read carefully and thoroughly the Application Form, the OMR Application Form and the instructions for filling up the Application Form. Before filling in the Application Form, check your eligibility regarding minimum required age, educational qualification, experience, etc., for the Programmes applied for.
For PhD Research
The applicants need to submit the attested photocopies of the following documents along with the filled-in application form as given below:
- Birth Certificate or S.S.L.C. Certificate (as a proof for date of birth)
- Community Certificate
- SSLC & PUC, HSC, UG, PG and M.Phil. Mark Statements and Convocation Certificates
- Service Certificate and No Objection Certificate in original from the Head of the Institution where the candidate is employed indicating the date of appointment if the applicants wish to pursue the research programme under part-time stream.
Applicants possessing Degrees awarded by the Universities not recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) are not eligible for admission to the Programmes for which the minimum qualification prescribed is a Bachelor Degree.
Only those applicants who have passed the qualifying examination either under the 10+2+3 pattern of education or under the 11+1+3 pattern of education or 11+2+2 pattern of education or under the Open University system will be eligible for admission to the Programme for which the minimum qualification prescribed is a Bachelor’s Degree.
If the copies of the Certificates enclosed are in a language other than Tamil or English, a true version of the Certificates in Tamil or English duly certified by a person authorized to attest the Certificates must be enclosed.
Admission Procedure of Tamil Nadu Open University
Selection procedure for PhD
For admission into the Ph.D. Programme, an entrance test and interview will be conducted for all the eligible applicants and the performance in the entrance test and interview will be taken into account along with the marks scored in the PG Programme. The entrance test will comprise Objective Type questions for 40% marks and 10 % marks for the interview. The Ph.D. applicants must secure at least 50% or above in aggregate in the entrance examination and interview to be eligible for admission into the Ph.D. Programme. The said scores secured both in written test and interview are to be added to the marks obtained in the PG Degree Examinations or qualifying examination by giving 50% weightage, and the Rank List is to be prepared accordingly.
Admission Procedure for M.Phil
The student will be admitted during Academic Year (July) session only. For the admission into the M.Phil. Programme, an Entrance test and interview will be administered for all the eligible applicants and the performance in the interview will be taken into account along with the marks scored in the PG Programme. The written test would comprise of objective type of questions for 40% marks and the interview would be conducted for 10% marks. The marks secured in written test and interview will be added to the marks obtained in the PG Degree Examinations by giving 50% weightage and the rank list will be prepared accordingly. The respective Schools will conduct the entrance examination for the admission of M.Phil candidates by following the Tamil Nadu reservation policy

As per G.O.M/s No 73, Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare (ADW) (III) Department dated 14.07.2004,SC / ST students pursuing distance education (formal stream) are eligible for reimbursement of the non-refundable fees if they are not employed and if the annual income of their parents does not exceed Rs 1,00,000/. The students should apply for scholarships in the prescribed form to be obtained from the Offices of Adi Dravidar/Tribal Welfare Department along with the supporting document required, including the applicant’s Savings Bank Account No., Name of the Bank,Branch, etc., to the Director, SSSD,TNOU, after University fees are paid. After due scrutiny, the applications for scholarships will be forwarded to the respective Government Departments for sanction of the scholarships. The disbursement of the scholarship is subject to the conditions prescribed by the Government
As per G.O. Ms. No 429, Higher Education Department, dated 16-10-2008, differently-abled students pursuing a Programme at the University are eligible for tuition fee exemption. The candidate shall apply in the prescribed Application Form, for admission along with the core banking challan for Rs.300/- enclosing a copy of the disability certificate
