CEPT University UG Admission 2017 – CEPT University has released notification for admission into UG programmes like Bachelor of Interior Design, Bachelor of Urban Design & Bachelor of Construction Technology for the academic year 2017-2018. The complete detail of CEPT University UG Admission 2017 such as application form, eligibility criteria, admission process etc. are given below.

CEPT University UG Admission 2017

Center for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT) offers admission to BID, BUD & BCT for year 2017-18 is to be carried by admission committee. The CEPT Admissions is a completely online process. Admissions process is administered by the Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC) through a completely online process.

Eligibility Criteria

For BID

Candidate must have passed HSC Examination from Gujarat state board or any other State board with Science Stream or its equivalent in CBSE/CISCE/NIOS/ISB/IB with Physics & Mathematics as compulsory subjects and Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Computer as optional subject (all at higher/advance level), securing a minimum aggregate score of 50% for all subjects (45% for SC/ST/ SEBC candidates).

Note:

  • In all the cases, aggregate will be calculated based on all the subjects including languages, optional courses, practical examination etc. Failure in any subject disqualifies the candidature. Applicants having equivalent qualifications other than that stated above will have to submit an attested copy of equivalence certificate from the appropriate authority along with the application.
  • Candidates awaiting HSC result will have to produce a certificate from the principal of the high school that he/she has appeared in the XII Standard examination of the Science Stream. Candidates who have applied for verification/rechecking of marks may also apply and submit the rechecking certificate. All the candidates must submit final mark sheet on or before the stipulated date and time and satisfy the minimum requirements failing which admission will not be granted/ forfeited.

For BUD

Applicants should have passed the qualifying examination (Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination) or its equivalent examination from any streams (Science, Commerce and Arts/Humanities), from Gujarat state board or any other State boards or CBSE/CISCE/NIOS/ISB/IB, with a minimum aggregate score of 50% for all subjects (45% for SC/ST/ SEBC candidates).

Or

Applicants should have passed the Diploma (10+3 pattern) of any stream with 50% aggregate marks from Technical Board of Gujarat or any other state or from a college/university established under Section 3 of UGC Act 1956 will be eligible to apply for the program

For BCT

For BUD

All 40 seats to be filled in by CEPT University (All India Seats): Seats shall be filled from the candidates who have passed the qualifying examination from the schools located in India (including Gujarat State) and have appeared in CEPT Aptitude Test for BUD. Merit list for these seats shall be prepared by CEPT University based on the selection process proposed by CEPT University. Candidate has to apply to CEPT University.

Admission Process

For BID Course

This will be done in three stages as mentioned here: 

Stage 1 – Scrutiny for eligibility: All applications received will be scrutinized based on information provided/uploaded in the application forms. This scrutiny is to check whether the applicant meets the eligibility criteria. Only those applicants who meet the eligibility criteria and pass scrutiny will be considered for

Stage 2 (Aptitude Test).
Stage 2 – Aptitude Test: The Aptitude Test is conducted on CEPT University campus and all the students who have received the admit cards need to appear for the test. The test will be conducted in two sessions. Both sessions as mentioned below require mandatory attendance for a candidate to be eligible for admissions.

Session 1 of Aptitude Test:   

This session will cover Imagination, Lateral Thinking, Exposure to Basic Design and Interiors, Sensitivity to Color, Context Analysis, Perception, Visual Order, Association, Interpretation, Application, and Interior Space Attributes.

Session 2 of Aptitude Test:   

This session will cover Organizational Principles, Visualizing 3D Objects, Observational Skills, Scale & Proportions, Logic and Ordering Principles, Representation, Understanding of Order, Understanding of Basics of Design, Common sense, Problem solving.

Stage 3 – Preparation of merit list:

Merit list is prepared based on aggregate score of HSC and performance in the aptitude tests conducted by CEPT University. The final merit order is generated on the following weightage criteria:

Aptitude Test for BID  70%
HSC Aggregate             30%
TOTAL                        100%

Important Note: 

  • Merit list for the 50% seats to be filled in by ACPC, GoG will be prepared and operated by ACPC following the GoG norms.
  • Merit list for the 50% seats to be filled in by CEPT University (All India Seats), will be prepared and operated by CEPT University, purely on merit basis.

Specific Instructions for the 50% seats to be filled up by ACPC. 

  • It is mandatory for all eligible applicants to appear in the admission test conducted at CEPT University for consideration in the merit list of admissions. Absence in any test disqualifies the applicant from the admission process.
  • Allotment of seats for various categories of reservation is placed on Notice Board as stipulated by rules before the Aptitude test. After the merit list order declaration on CEPT/ACPC website, a counselling process for the eligible students takes place. The reservation criteria for the candidates according to the Gujarat Government Norms are applied. In absentia of any reserved category candidate(s) at the time of counselling, their seats are allotted to general category candidates.
  • At a time of counselling students are admitted in the order of the final merit list on the spot. They can secure admission by paying full fees + a refundable deposit (Amount as decided by CEPT University).
  • If the student is unable to fulfil any of the above criteria he/she gets

For BUD Course

The evaluation of applications will be done in four stages as mentioned here:

Stage 1: Scrutiny for Eligibility

All applications received will be scrutinized based on information provided/uploaded in the application forms. This scrutiny is to check whether the applicant meets the eligibility criteria set for the program. Only those applicants who meet the eligibility criteria will be considered for Stage 2 or else the application form will not be entertained further.

Stage 2: Written Admission Test 

All eligible applicants will be called for aptitude test. It is mandatory for all the eligible applicants to appear for the admission test to be conducted by CEPT University for consideration in the merit list of admission. Absence in any test will disqualify the applicant from admission. The paper for the Written Admission Test will include four sections and the weightages for each sections are mentioned below:

The evaluation of written examination will be done by the faculty members of CEPT University based on decided criteria for evaluation of the examination paper.

Stage 3: Shortlisting for Personal Interview 
After appearing for the Written Admission Test, all the applicants do not automatically qualify to reach the Personal Interview. Those applicants who qualify at the Written Admission Test based upon the University decided cut-off marks will be shortlisted and called for a Personal Interview to complete the process. The cut-off point will be common for all the three streams of Science, Humanities and Commerce. The cut-off point is arrived at by keeping a ratio of available seats to number of applicants (to be interviewed) at 1:3. Please note that at this stage, no cut-off is applied to the reserved category applicants who fulfil the eligibility criteria, they will be called for the Personal Interview process.
The personal interview for the shortlisted applicants will be evaluated by a panel of faculty members using the following criteria: communication skills, awareness and sensitivity, and knowledge of the subject.

Stage 4: Preparation of Merit list

A consolidated merit list of the applicants who have appeared for the Personal Interview will be prepared on the basis of aggregate score of HSC and performance in the written admission test and personal interview at CEPT University, Ahmedabad.
The total weightage for the evaluation criteria generally follows this break up:

The consolidated merit list of the applicants (who have appeared for Personal Interview) will be displayed on the CEPT website. CEPT University will bring out the first offer list for admission, following the order of merit. Based on the acceptance status of the applicants and the available seats, the admission committee at its discretion may decide to bring out further waitlists by following the order of the consolidated merit list.

For BCT Course

This will be done in three stages as mentioned here:

Aptitude test will include four sections: Analytical Ability, Construction Awareness, English communication and Drawing skills. The details of these sections are:

  • Analytical Ability: This section will check analytical ability and logical reasoning.
  • Construction Awareness: This section will check general knowledge pertaining to construction/Infrastructure works. It will help to gauge aptitude and interest of candidate towards construction technology course.
  • English Communication: This section will check English language communication skills through grammar and reading skills.
  • Drawing Skills: This section will check basic drawing skills through visual perception, proportioning, detailing, imagination, neatness etc.

Stage 3 – Preparation of merit list: Candidates will be selected on the basis of aggregate score of HSC and performance in the aptitude test at CEPT University, Ahmedabad.

The final list of merit order will be based on the following weightage:
Aptitude Test Score Weightage – 60%
HSC Aggregate Weightage Score – 40%.
