VITREE 2020 – Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) conducts Vellore Institute of Research Entrance Examination (VITREE) to fill PhD and Integrated PhD seats. VITREE is held every year, at a national level. It is a computer-based test and candidates who qualify it are called for an interview. This year due to COVID-19 pandemic, no entrance examination VITREE. The selected applicants will be called for a personal interview conducted at the campus. Candidate final selection will be based on the overall merit index. Candidates who qualify the interview round, get admission in VIT Vellore, VT Chennai, VIT Amaravati, and VIT Bhopal campus. In VIT Vellore and Chennai campus only internal full time (IFT) category is available. However, in VIT AP and VIT Bhopal, internal full time (IFT) and external part time (EPT) categories are offered. Candidates can check all the important dates for VITREE 2020 from the table below.

VITREE Internal Full Time and External Part Time Category:
1. Internal full time category: Candidates who opt for this category have to work for Ph.D / Integrated Ph.D degree on full time basis. These candidates have to be a part of project staff working at the college.
2. External part time category: Under this category those candidates are covered who are teacher working in other college and the candidates sponsored by R&D. These candidates can work on part time basis in Ph.D degree.

VITREE 2020 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for VITREE must fulfill the eligibility criteria as given below:
Minimum Eligibility Criteria: A candidates should have passed:
- 10+2+4+2 or any equivalent for Ph.D. in Engineering.
- 10+2+3+2 or any equivalent for Ph.D. in Non-Engineering.
Specific eligibility criteria for each subject is as follows:
Ph.D in Engineering – Candidates who have completed master’s degree in Engineering/Technology in relevant discipline with minimum 60% marks can apply for Ph.D in engineering.
For Integrated Ph.D in Engineering / Technology – Candidates should with an outstanding academic record in Bachelor’s in Engineering Technology with minimum of 80% marks or 8.0 CGPA are eligible to apply.
Ph. D in Sciences – Candidates who have completed master’s degree in Science in relevant discipline with minimum 60% marks are eligible to apply.
Ph. D in Languages – Candidates should possess a master’s degree in required language with minimum 55%.
Ph. D in Management – Candidates who have completed Master of Business Administration or M.E./ M.Tech with minimum 60% marks are eligible to apply for Ph.D in management.
Ph.D. in Law – To apply for this course, candidates must possess a master’s degree of Laws (LLM) from any recognized University / Institute with minimum 60% aggregate marks.
Ph. D in Fashion Technology – Candidates must have completed M.Tech. / M.E. / M.Fashion Tech / M.S. / M.Tech[By Research] in the field of Textile / Fibre Science/Textile Chemical etc. to apply in Fashion Technology.
Note: Candidates in final year can also apply. However, they need to fulfill the criteria above before the final admission.
NRI – Candidates having their degree’s from the Indian university can apply for VITREE.
International – Candidates having degree from Indian university or from foreign degrees equivalent to Indian degree and posses a valid visa can apply for the admissions.

VITREE 2020 Application Form
Candidates who have to fulfil the eligibility criteria can fill the online application. Candidates have to fill the online application form by providing their details, communication details and qualification details. In the application form, candidates also have to upload the images and have to pay the application fee. Candidates have to submit the printed application form along with the research projects, those who satisfied the criteria can appear for the entrance exam.

VITREE 2020 Selection Procedure
This year due to COVID-19 pandemic situation, VIT decided no VITREE entrance exam. Register applicants selected will be called for a personal interview (PI) process, which will be conducted at the campus. Candidates the final selection of candidates will be based on the overall merit index. It means to account the candidate’s performance in the previous university examinations at the Master’s level and the performance in the written test, research output and / the performance in a personal interview at VIT. After that, candidates have to download their provisional allotment letter for admission process. Candidates can download it by entering application number and date of birth. The qualified candidates have to report the specified date and time to select a guide at the campus chosen by them during registration.
VITREE 2020 Research Fellowship
Candidates referring to all Internal Full-Time scholars will get research fellow of stipend as given below:

Vellore Institute of Technology was established in 1984 as a self-financing institution. Earlier, it was known as Vellore Engineering College.
