Is there an entrance exam for Maharashtra polytechnic admission 2027?
No. DTE Maharashtra holds no written test for diploma admission. It ranks registered candidates on the marks of their qualifying exam and fills seats through the Centralised Admission Process (CAP). There is no admit card, answer key or exam centre.
DTE runs a separate online portal and merit list for each diploma stream:
- First Year Post SSC Diploma in Engineering and Technology, and Post SSC Diploma in Architecture, after Class 10.
- Direct Second Year Diploma (lateral entry) for HSC and ITI pass candidates, plus a separate Direct Second Year route for working professionals.
- Post HSC Diploma in Pharmacy, Hotel Management and Catering Technology (HMCT) and Surface Coating Technology, after Class 12.

DTE has not announced the 2027-28 schedule, so 2027 dates below are expected months based on 2026. In 2026, first-year registration opened on 20 May 2026 and was extended to 6 July 2026, and CAP Round IV allotment came out on 6 August 2026.

How to Apply for Maharashtra Polytechnic Admission 2027
You apply online only, on the DTE diploma portal for your stream. For 2026-27 the first-year portal was poly26.dtemaharashtra.gov.in; DTE links each year’s portal from dte.maharashtra.gov.in. One registration covers every institute and branch in that stream.
Apply Online for Maharashtra Polytechnic 2027
Applications for Maharashtra Polytechnic 2027 are expected in May 2027.
- Open the first-year diploma portal and register with your name, mobile number and email to get an application ID and password.
- Fill the application form: personal details, Class 10 marks, category and other claims.
- Choose a scrutiny mode: e-scrutiny (documents checked online, no visit) or physical scrutiny (book a slot at a Facilitation Centre).
- Upload scanned documents and pay the fee online by card, UPI or net banking.
- Wait for the Facilitation Centre to verify and confirm your form; fix any discrepancy it marks.
- Check the provisional merit list, raise a grievance if something is wrong, then fill the CAP option form after the final merit list.

How to log in to the Maharashtra polytechnic admission portal?
The candidate login is used to fill and edit the form, track document verification, see your merit number, fill CAP option forms and accept an allotted seat.
- Open the diploma portal for your stream (2026-27: Post SSC portal).
- Select candidate login.
- Enter your application ID and password.
- Use the dashboard to see verification status, merit details and the CAP option form.
- After each allotment, accept the offered seat in the login within the given dates.

Who can apply for Maharashtra polytechnic admission 2027?
First-year Post SSC diploma needs a pass in Class 10 (SSC) or an equivalent exam with at least 35% aggregate marks, as per DTE rules (stated on Government Polytechnic Vikramgad’s 2026-27 admission page). Candidates must be Indian nationals.
- Direct second year: HSC pass candidates and 2-year ITI (or equivalent COE, CTS, ATS, MSBVE) certificate holders. DTE ranks HSC and ITI candidates separately.
- Maharashtra State candidates get CAP seats under the state’s reservation rules.
- All India candidates and J&K and Ladakh migrant candidates have their own merit lists; OCI, PIO, foreign national and Gulf (CIWGC) candidates have a separate admission notice.

How is the Maharashtra polytechnic merit list prepared?
DTE prepares the merit list from the aggregate marks of your qualifying exam (SSC or equivalent for first year), with tie-breaking rules for equal marks. Each candidate gets a State Merit Number, and the cut-off lists are given in this number and in merit percentage.
First DTE shows a provisional merit list, then gives two days for grievances, then publishes the final merit list. In 2026 these came out on 7 July and 10 July 2026, with separate lists for Maharashtra, All India and J&K candidates.
How do CAP rounds work in Maharashtra diploma admission?
CAP is DTE’s online seat allotment. In each round you fill an option form with institutes and branches in order of preference, and DTE allots seats on merit, your choices, your category and the seats left.

In 2026, DTE ran four CAP rounds for first year, from Round I allotment on 15 July to Round IV on 6 August 2026. Seats still vacant after CAP, and Institutional Quota seats, are filled at institute level.
Seats are split into home district seats (for candidates from the institute’s district) and other than home district seats, and into general and ladies seats. The cut-off lists also mark technical (T) and non-technical (N) seats separately.

What documents do you need for Maharashtra polytechnic admission 2027?
- Class 10 (SSC) mark sheet, or HSC or ITI mark sheet for direct second year.
- Caste or tribe certificate, if you claim a reserved category.
- Non-creamy layer certificate for reserved categories other than SC and ST (for 2026-27 it had to be valid up to 31 March 2027).
- EWS certificate valid for the admission year, if claimed.
- Nationality and domicile certificates, as the admission rules need.
- Income certificate for the Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme (TFWS), if you apply for it.
- Disability certificate (PwD) or defence certificate, if claimed.
- Aadhaar number and a linked bank account, for scholarships and fee reimbursement.
Diploma admission after Class 10 or 12 does not need a caste validity certificate at the time of admission. A reserved-category candidate who gets a seat must apply to the caste scrutiny committee within one month of admission (DTE notice of 12 May 2026).
What fees do you pay after a CAP allotment?
You pay the tuition and other fees at the allotted institute when you report to confirm your admission. Fees differ by institute and type, so check the fee of each institute before you fill your option form.
Maharashtra-domiciled girls admitted through CAP with family income up to Rs 8 lakh a year get a 100% waiver of tuition and exam fees under the state’s tuition fee scholarship scheme; they apply on the MahaDBT portal.
