The JnK Professional Board of Examinations will conduct the Diploma Polytechnic Common Entrance Test (PET) 2018 for the academic year of 2018-19. Candidates who want to get admission in the three-year Diploma in Polytechnic Engineering courses will have to appear for the entrance test. Eligible candidates can apply through the official website i.e. and must also read all the instructions given in the e-brochure. Candidates, who will be likely to appear for the Common Entrance Test 2018, the candidates must ensure that they fulfil the eligibility requirements specified by the conducting body. Candidates will have to go through all the stages of the admission process such as filling of application form, downloading of admit card, exam pattern, commencement of entrance test, declaration of result and lastly, the counselling/seat allotment as per the prescribed dates by the Board only.

Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for the Common Entrance Test (PET) 2018, the candidates need to satisfy the following eligibility criteria as given below:

  • The candidates must be a citizen of Jammu and Kashmir State.
  • Passed in Secondary School Examination or equivalent examination from a recognised statutory board. The candidates who will be appearing/appeared in the 10th standard examination can also apply for the entrance test.
  • The candidates must obtain 40% in 10th standard in the case of being an open merit candidate and 37% for the reserved category candidates.
  • THe candidates must be passed in Science and Mathematics in the 10th standard examination.

Reservation and Category Codes

There will be reservation for the category-wise candidates in the various Government Polytechnic colleges. The number of seats for the Government Polytechnics will be as follows:

Exam Pattern

The entrance test will be held at the centres specified by the Board in the cities of Srinagar and Jammu only. The PET 2018 will consist of one question paper having 180 multiple-choice questions. The duration of the examination will be of 3 hours. The marking scheme of the examination will be as follows:

Each correct answer will carry one mark and each wrong answer will carry -0.25 marks.Candidates who will appear for the entrance test must go through the exam pattern to have a better understanding regarding the entrance test.

Application Process

Eligible candidates need to fill the application form which will be available online on the BOPEE website i.e. / The candidates will have to fill the correct and complete details in the application form along with application fee which will be Rs. 400. Candidates must go through the instructions given in the E-brochure while filling the application form. The candidates will have to attach the required important documents and scanned photograph to the application form.

Admit Card

After the successful application process, the candidates will get the Admit Card few days before the entrance test. The admit card will be available online on the official website of BOPEE. The admit card can be downloaded within the prescribed dates only. The admit card will be an important document without which the candidates will not be allowed to appear for the entrance test. Therefore, the candidates need to retain the admit card in a safe, secure and without any change until the end of the admission process.

Declaration of Result

The result will be declared for the candidates appeared in the examination on the official website of BOPEE. The Board will prepare the merit list on the basis of Total marks obtained by the candidates in all the subjects taken together. The number of candidates who will have their name on the list will be called for the counselling sessions. Seats will be allotted to the candidates as per their marks obtained in the examination and as per the seats available for the concerned course of study.

Answer Key

After the declaration of the result, the Answer key will be uploaded on the official website of BOPEE. The candidates can check their answers marked for the asked questions in the examination. Candidates can calculate their marks through the answer key. In case, any candidate will have any objection related to any answer then he/she can submit the objection to the board.


The last stage of the admission process will be of the counselling. The candidates, who will have their names in the merit list, will be called for the counselling. The counselling will be done on the basis of the marks obtained by the candidates in the entrance test and as per the available seats in the different Polytechnic colleges. Candidates will be allotted the Institution and Discipline at the time of the counselling and the decision taken by the board will be final and binding on all.
